Is it right that the only Airworthy Brisfit in Europe is the Shuttleworth one ?
i know Guy Black swapped his some years ago, but what others exist ? airworthy or non or projects ?

ErrolC, the ‘other’ F2b that went to OZ is in fact a modern replica built by a current forum member and powered by a Fairchild Ranger engine. To see that builders’s current work, look up the Bristol Bulldog thread.
There is at least one other F2b being finished based upon one of the fabled barn find fuselages. That will be powered with a 300 Hisso.

All lovely photos, Mk.XII. Thanks for sharing. What a breathtaking sight that lineup must have been.

15 July 2006, Old Warden.
What a wonderful evening that was.
Just getting serious with digital photography.

Did he fly a BE.2 in training or on earlier operations? Stow Maries may be amenable?
Yes, he flew a lot of the BE’s, so that’s a good thought, thank you………………anyone have any contacts with a BE.2 ?

Thank you for all your replies, sadly it appears that our only UK airworthy aircraft is the Shuttleworth example then, it’s a long story but next year is the anniversary of my Great Uncle being killed in a Brisfit in 1918, I wanted to ‘bag’ a flight in one, but a reply today from Shurttleworth was not favourable
Ironic to that Weston on the Green is the next village from my home, though the fuselages were discovered many years before I arrived.

Also details the other 4’s fate – Canada, Brussels, Peter Jackson (x2) and South Yorks
One of Sir Peter’s Weston frames was on display at the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre from its opening until a year or two ago, placed in a period workshop display. It was quite exciting to see after having read so much about them over the years!

Presumably, excepting the Shuttleworth Trust example, these F.2b’s would have been the ex-Boddington Wheelwright airframes from Weston-on-the-Green. If those two originated there, can someone tell me what has become of the other four airframes that were recovered from Mr Boddington’s barn in the 1960s?
On became the static example now on show at the RAF Museum

And just for completeness, there is the other TVAL reproduction, now operated by TAVAS in Queensland.
The thought of three at one time is just amazing!

There’s another one in France but it has a different engine iirc
It’s a Hispano Suiza!

And one of them had a near groundloop on landing. Heart in mouth time.

They also flew at Old Warden. A magical evening show in beautiful flying conditions. I may be misremembering, but it included a ten minute tailchase after the formation flybys. Simply stunning

Yep, the three flew together at Duxford Flying Legends about 10 years ago. Guy Black’s went to Canada and the TFC example to New Zealand I believe.
By: DragonRapide - 29th March 2017 at 17:41
We had three for a short period, I think – TFC had one, which may have gone to Guy Black as a swap for the Nimrod. Can’t remember who’s the other was!
I might be imagining this – but I’m sure I saw a photo of three in formation!
