Can someone tell me if Bristol Filton is a proper airport? I heard that I was used for making Airbus wings. Is this true? Is Lulsgate the real airport?
Thanks,
Mark

Their was a carrier called Air Bristol, I think they becam AB Airlines. They operated a charter for BAe to Toulouse and Liverpool from Filton using a BAc-1-11

Used to be an airforce base but after the war it was disused. It is now used for refitting airbus’ from airline to freight.
This is off a very reliable source.

I think Filton recieves a British European BAe 146 once in a while to take airbus and BAe people down to Toulouse something to do with Airbus.Probably recieves the Airbus Beluga as well.

Wings are made mainly at Hawarden I am realiably told by Airport ATC. THere is a major airbus factory with more than daily flights with that big ould looking airbus with the massive brains! “Guppy?”

I think Lulsgate is the main Commercial field, but filton still gets a fair few unusual a/c in as it is the Airbus Freighter conversion centre as well as the Undercarrage and various other bits factory – some1 else might b able to enlighten u more!
