As the title asks, is there any news? Been looking forward to this since living in Filton but didnt know if they had a current temporary home.

Are these the people who used to be at Kemble and had an ex RAF Britannia? No mention of the Brit on the website and the last time I visited Kemble it was no where to be seen.
Regards
Orion, there is no organisational connection between the Bristol Aero Collection and the Bristol Britannia XM496 Preservation Society at Kemble. However, there is obviously a shared love of Bristol aircraft and expertise/advice etc.

Timely new announcement today about achieving the second stage of the HLF application for £4.7 million.
The project is well down the road now, with a large amount of corporate and HLF funding in place. Target is still to open in spring 2017.

I’ve often thought it would be nice to move the Britannia XM496 from Kemble to join this collection. But I suppose the practicalities of moving a large, live airframe rather preclude this.
Of course, if it were not for the fact that there are large piles of concrete dotting the runway, it could have flown across…

I’ll believe it when I see it! There has been talk of this for the last ten years since Concorde landed for the last time at Filton.
It’s all in place: hangar location sorted, aircraft either in store or under restoration on-site and just awaiting the final funding I think. But a recent donation (mid-November) allows the first phase to start.

Looking forward to this too having grown up near Filton and spent what seemed like ages listening to them testing Concorde engines in the ’70’s.
The museum is supposed to open in Spring 2017 with most funding seemingly in place but updates on the website are few and far between.
It takes some finding but there is a proposed exhibit list on the website, hopefully its early days as there are not many aircraft besides Concorde, the Bolligbroke, Scout, F2b and a few commercial ones. It’s interesting to think what might be possible, my wish list would be to add a Freighter, Beaufighter, a salvaged Bombay(!) and a Braemar replica. Seriously though they do need more exhibits if it is to represent the story of bristol aircraft.. now where did I see rumours of a Blenheim 1F returning to flight.

Not sure bout a temporary home, but updates have been posted on their website recently http://www.bristolaero.org/
