This is staying in my ever expanding collection of Bristol parts, but I have no idea what this is – or which aircraft it is off.
Part reads FB70946 – doesn’t look like anything I’ve seen for the Beaufighter, but could it perhaps be Freighter?
Hope someone recognises it 🙂
Cheers

Actually that’s a big help 🙂 All I know is that it came from a guy who collected a massive pile of stuff over the years from RAAF Laverton so it really comes down to what may have been scrapped there. If your engine theory is correct it would be great if it had come from something such as a Bulldog or Wapiti, but that’s just my pipe dream 😎 Will see if I can find a parts list for either engine you mentioned and see what turns up

Bristol part
FB (standing for Fedden Butler) is the prefix for Bristol engine parts. Looks like it could be a piece of cooling baffle or similar.
Not seen anything like it on the Hercules or Centaurus. Could be earlier – Pegasus/Mercury?
Not much of a help really, sorry.
