Bristol Viper Engine Numbers

Hello all,

As you may have seen last month I have a new Viper Engine to play with. I am looking for a reference to the engine number as the plate was still on. It is a Bristol Viper 102 (It looks like) Serial No. VL1974 A664190?

Does anyone have records of these?

thanks

Simon

Bristol and Armstrong Siddeley amalgumated to form Bristol Siddeley in 1959. depending on when it was built it could either be an armstrong siddeley or a bristol siddeley as the Viper was developed by Armstrong in 1953 before the merger

Bristol Viper

Hi R P Smith,

thanks for the reply on the engine, I noted your correction on the maker of the engine. I am not trying to be smart but the engine plate definatly says “Bristol Viper Engine” Mark No.102.

Any Ideas

Simon

Simon, have you tried RRHT, Coventry Branch?

The Secretary Tom Smith is, I believe, an expert

Roger Smith.

PS – it’s an Armstrong Siddeley Viper 🙂
