Amazing how busy Southend was then, sadly I didn’t visit it until the 90’s, by which time it was pretty quiet but still some interesting aircraft.

It must have been seriously expensive to fly your car rather than ship it. What were the advantages, really?

People were slimmer then – and better dressed for travelling in those days. Pity about the awful men’s hair styling!

Lovely piece of film, and I wonder if any of those BAF mobile hydraulic car lifts survive today? Interestingly the blue Ford Capri shown was still around in 1987, despite looking the worse for wear back then.
And as for the stewardess – the one on the left is an absolute babe 😉
