Hello everybody I had the pleasure of spending the last week working for Aviance now the handling agent for BA in EDI.

To say that I was shocked would be an understatement.

I was working the the baggage office and I was really shocked at the volume of bags that ”misconnect” in LHR.

I reliase that LHR and BA are 2 of the biggest in the bussiness but I was still surprised. I have seen LH,AF and some other hub carriers get it wrong from time to time but over the week their was always 30-40 bags missing from each BA flight from LHR!

What also shocked me was the long delays that BA suffer from LHR again I reliase traffic is chronic in LHR but can BA not adjust their schedules to alow more space for delays. Never in the space of a week did BA1464 the last LHR-EDI flight within an hour of it STD of 2215.

In London the staff seemed to be promising alot of passengers on delayed flights taxi to their homes etc none of which could be provided.

Is BA always like this or are they having specific problems at the moment?

Other things that shocked me were that they are sending by road hundreds of bags to Milan and Glasgow to be returned to passengers as they cant cope with it in LHR!

I also heard a rumour that last year BA had so many taggless bags that they were not willing to pay staff to locate their owners that they sent them off to be destroyed.
