Some long term forumites might remember my long running 1:400 scale model airliner thread that currently lurks somewhere deep within a sub sub forum ? I don’t bother posting there anymore as it seldom draws a look, but seeing as you can’t actually snap these for real yet, I thought I might take the liberty of posting a couple of pics here of my latest additions. Call it a preview of the 1:1 versions, if you will…;)
Ladies and gentlemen, mums and dads, boys and girls… I give you the all new British Airways Airbus A380 and Boeing 787, just touched down and boarding at LHR-petit ! 😀 😀
Oh and mods, move it to the dungeon if you must !

Come on, chaps.
There’s a more appropriate forum for pictures of model airliners.
Let’s have no more of them in here.

ps…. Sorry, Allen.
Come on “chap”, have a heart… What’s model airliners got to do with Flight Simulation (under which its buried)? Live up to your user name – see things in shades of grey, not black and white! 😉 At least here we might discuss these things – over there, it’ll die (I know I don’t go to the flight sim forum).
Andy
PS: Nice pics Allen – I guess we’ll just have to carry on the discussions at 400SH

I could post a few ‘airline images’ here if anyone’s interested….?
I certainly am! I did like that other thread, I have a link to it somewhere and check it now and then.
I only have a wee (comparitively) collection of about 70 models. Once my flat mate moves out though and I’m done with being a poor student, I might ramp that up and move them all into his room though 😀

Very nice Ren looks like you have a big collection how many aircraft do you have.

I haven’t counted them all for ages, I’m guessing it must be around the 400 mark or so…? One of my collecting themes (apart from BA) is aircraft that currently or have operated at GLA. My ‘current(ish) fleet’ includes the Emirates 773,A332, Zoom 763, My Travel A333, Virgin 744 (new livery), KLM 733/739, Continental 752,762,764, Air Canada 763, American Airlines, 762,763, US Airways 752W, 762 old and new livery, PIA A310 (ethnic tail) Easyjet A319, 738, Aer Lingus BAe 146 (current livery) British Airways A319, A320, A321, Boeing 752, Boeing 734,735, Embraer 145, Bae 146, Boeing 763, Flybe Q-400, Bae 146 to name but some.
From the old days I’ve got BA and BEA Trident 1,2 and 3’s in British Airways and ‘British’ fonts, Britannia 732, 707, British Midland DC-9 various liveries, Dan Air Comet 4’s, 707, 732 and 727. BEA Comet 4’s BOAC VC-10’s, BEA DC-3 (Pionair for the Renfrew fans) BEA Viscount, Aer Lingus Constellations, BOAC Constellation and lot’s more.
I could post a few ‘airline images’ here if anyone’s interested….?

I remember that thread well Ren, where does it hide these days? That’s quite a collection you’ve got.
I’m just a little intrigued to know what registrations they have put on them. I think GeminiJets usually have real reg’s, but of course there is no such thing as yet.
1L.
They normally use real reg’s when they do model releases based on current or past aircraft. In the case of the A380 they used the inspired choice of G-BBIG which I believe is currently assigned to an auto-gyro. The 787 is G-BDRM (Boeing DReaMliner presumably?) which was last used for real on a De Havilland Chipmunk.
As for that original thread, it’s still around within the RC and Models forum which is itself within the Flight Sim forum, a bit like a shop on a pedestrianised street, it’s kind of lost all ‘passing trade’ 🙁 My collection is much, much bigger now. A330 Crazy, Skymonster and myself still discuss and show off our collections over at www.400scalehangar.net/forums 😀

They look great! Prefer the 787 myself.
