British Airways B737-800

Hello all,

Looks like British Airways have leased a 737-800 from Excel Airways…

Looks bloody awful!

Thanks,
Sam

Not a fan of it at all. However its all that you can expect on a short-term lease.

So British Airways have this 737 for 6 months? With the summer season now upon us, I’m surprised that Excel Airways has an aircraft to spare.

Im sure if they do go short they will get one from sister company XL Germany and XL France.

I really dont mind it, i think the tail looks and more bold and clean compared to the standard design.

I suspect the BA franchise department won’t be too impressed when they see this.

I don’t think that they will be too bothered afterall it is only temporary just for the summer season. Not much point spending the extra money on a full repaint of the aircraft just for 5- 6 months that it wil be leased for.

I have to admit that I thought it was a Photoshop job at first, and a dodgy one at that! 😎

It’s actually being leased by GB Airways for the summer, and will operate out of Gatwick.
The lease has put a lot of strain on GB’s LGW crew of late, as many have been off roster for conversion to the 737-800, meaning a very heavy workload!
It will be a damp lease, with XL flight crew and GB cabin crew.

Why convert many crews if this is only a temp lease? Why not convert 4 or 5 crews and use them on the 737 exclusively?

I think that’s nothing more than a quick paint job on a short term lease ? :p

Probably not even paint, just cheap stickers! :p

I really like it! 🙂

Since Gatwick seems to be the base for all 737s, I can only assume that’s where this will be going?
