From ABTN.
BRITISH AIRWAYS has detailed its winter programme which includes newservices from Gatwick to Dubrovnik and Turin. Manchester gains twice daily flights from Manchester to Copenhagen. Additional frequencies from Gatwick to the Caribbean will commence in December with flights to Antigua increasing from seven to 10 each week and to Barbados from eight to 10.The Bilbao service will switch from Gatwick to Heathrow. BA flights from Gatwick to Düsseldorf will be suspended from October and between Heathrow and Zagreb from 14 September and flights from Heathrow to San Diego will be suspended from 26October. Another change for the winter 2003 season is that British Airways’ flights from Heathrow to Johannesburg and Tokyo will operate from Heathrow’s Terminal 1 instead of Terminal 4 from 26 October. Both these routes have a high number of transfer passengers, many of whom will no longer have to swap terminals at Heathrow for their connecting flights. The BA Gatwick – Brussels flights are in danger but could be saved by codeshare partner SN Brussels Airlines, who have expressed an interest in taking over the route.

Zagreb surprised me considering Dubrovnik is being launched as a new destination though I suppose both are catering for different markets.

I think T3 was supposed to be a Star exchange in the future. It would make sense with UA, SK, AC, SQ, TG, RG, NZ and NH using this terminal with just the the European and one or two Asian carriers at different terminals.

Isn’t United moving to Terminal One as well? I thought it was rumoured that STAR may move many of their carriers to T1???

if anything moved back to LGW (some hope!) it wouldn’t be on a 747.. unless they were going to maintain the a/c at LHR.

Thanks for that info, I really miss Speedbird 2075 (as it wasB4 )roaring overhead at 11.00 each day —if it is going to happen may it be soon. Its lovely to see a 747 go over here low ,the nearest I get to seeing them is when Air France descends into Paris each day ,or the South African traffic roars over from LHR at night!!

The shorthaul routes mentioned won’t be swapping to T4 until Summer 2004 at the earliest, and even then will only be moved when a similar number of longhaul movements per day can be moved to T1 in addition to the JNB and NRT flights moving this year.
As for the LOS moving back to LGW nothing official yet from either BA or the unions so it seems unlikely for now at least.

Can’t wait until BA and friends get T5 for themselves 🙂 It will save a lot of the annoyance and time with connections around Heathrow.

Whilst the terminal changes might look good on paper it couldn’t come at a worse time. The heathrow ground controllers are getting very irate with the situation on the South side where congestion and delays are rife. Whilst Saab, you mentioned the switching of 2 long haul services to T1, 5+ short haul services are being moved over to T4, thereby actualy increasing the movements and congestion!
I don’t know what BA or BAA are playing at?
