Here’s a link to a free MS33558 font…

Other useful ones are Gill Sans, DIN, RAF 48INCH, and RCAF_60O_ATH, all of which are available to download free.

A close approximation is the ‘Johnston’ London Underground font, block capitals of course. Haven’t found a free source for it yet though.

The US one will be available on line, that’s where I have located it in the past. The MOS drawing could well be in an archive somewhere as to where?
I will have to hunt a bit deeper to locate any drawings I may have.
Send me a PM and when I locate then I will send them to you. I am in the middle of moving at the moment, so I make no promises.

Smiths standard 0825-302
For letters, Ministry of Supply drawing No. Z.3587 Issue 2 or MS33558 (ASG), both apply as these are identical.
However numerals are different, Smiths civil instruments use the US standard and MOS instruments used the UK standard.
This is from a document dated 1958 and last revised in 1961.
Now for the bit that may well apply to your query. There is a policy statement that says:
Aircraft instrument dials, or panels, shall have characters in accordance with this standard unless Granby Type Face is specifically required.

Smiths font
Some where I have the font spec sheets from Smiths. I have both the commerical and military ones. They are dated some time in the 50’s so may not apply to the instruments you are interested in.
