Brize Norton

Will the MODS feel the need to move it please do, i was not sure where to place it.

RAF bases such as Brize Norton have a terminal building, is this just for troops or is it for the public use aswell because they don’t have any commercial a/c do they? Also, how do they pass the security at the front?

Today has seen Excel operate from MME to Brize Norton, and then onto Al Udeid as XLA105

Not quite 100% 🙂 The B743 operated as XLA104 BZZ-MME-Al Udeid yesterday morning then XLA105 Al Udeid-MME-BZZ arriving back into BZZ around 1230 lunchtime today

Sounds like all these charters are in to help out the tristars out from what i hear the tristars are struggling to cope with the work load.

Bless them 😀

Earlier this week Astraeus operated into Brize Norton – don’t know where from, though they then positioned out to LGW iirc.

Today has seen Excel operate from MME to Brize Norton, and then onto Al Udeid as XLA105

Not civil, but an airliner all the same, the Belgian AF are also due to operate through Brize Norton today with an A310 routing Jacksonville-Gander-Brize Norton-Brussels Melsbroek as BAF608

As far as the An-225 goes, I would expect it can – I recall seeing it at Farnborough, and Brize Norton’s runway is longer, wider, and I believe has a higher PCN..

Isn’t Brize the largest Air Force base in the world?

Like I say its the biggest/largest RAF Station in the world. Don’t know what the biggest is but Brize norton must be in the top 5.

You may want to have a look for the thread about the proposed terminal at RAF Valley for an example??

Aren’t all the RAF’s C-130’s moving across to Brize as well? Certainly looks like a busy busy place!

the sad thing i saw at Brize was a C-17 landed and it had onborad some troops who died out in Iraq.

Hi luke we saw a AN124 on the Tristar apron when we visited I think they take helicopter’s from nearby RAF Benson.

It is getting busier because when i actually stayed on the base for a week, you could hear them coming and going all night.

I think the c130s are going to be moving over with in the next few years or so, to create one big transport base.

Excel’s B743 TF-AMK just arrived here on it’s return leg from Al Udeid AB in Qatar, it then goes back to Brize Norton – it came here yesterday morning on the outbound leg!
