Well, it is coming together.
We should, within a few days, be able to post up a list of the items that are going to be flying (we have to finalise the bookings first)
however:
Lots of Hawker,
A bit of Sopwith,
Some North American,
Douglas
Folland
Some frightfully nice chaps from the RAF
and the last running Napier Lion Aero engine.
The flypast element is being sorted too. This will commence at 9am with the first arrival and looks set to include some very interesting vintage aeroplanes. An 800mtr grass runway is in the process of being cut and will be tested by a fat bloke in a Rearwin quite soon.
This is going to be a good show and one well worth coming along too. The display items are all linked by their connections to Brooklands and Dunsfold and many of the fly-in items are also very relevant.
Please support this event as it is for charity and it is extremely good of the landowners at Dunsfold to allow this to happen, and to take such an active and important part in its organisation. They deserve your support for their support of your hobby (preaching over).
Come along, 4 June, Dunsfold airfield. Tel 0870 800 1940 or go onto the website at http://www.wingsandwheels.net
Get there early and support a good event and several good causes.

Sounds like this is shaping up to be a good do. Hopefully I will get to fly into my old workplace in a fast jet! (Never having had the chance to fly at Dunsfold). It will be nice to see the place again, it’ll make a pleasant change from the ugly monstrosity that is Warton…

Thanks for the update Melvyn.
As it’s almost on my doorstep, I really ought to go!
Looks like a nice line up of aircraft so far btw. 🙂
Cheers

For no other reason than supporting anyone that is doing something to add to aviation, rather than tax it or price it out of the picture, please support it.
It is an airfield that people are trying to keep open. That is a rarity these days.

Dunsfold
Julian invited me some time back, when he was preparing the Wingspan article on my Miles Falcon.
I do plan to go but cant quite remember which machine he asked me to bring. I think it was the Falcon but if its a belter of a day then it might just be one of the open cockpit variety.

Yup, remember Julian from the days when we used to corporate rallying events at Brooklands. Did they ever put in the grass strip?
Moggy
Mercedes have promised a grass strip when the remoulding of the airfield area is done. They are going to have a visitor’s centre and test track and apparently we are getting a grass runway. Wonder who wil have to check it out?
We’ve got a grass strip at Dunsfold.

Flyable into? (1960’s ragwing)
Moggy
Definitely flyable, I would contact Julian Temple at Brooklands and ask him.

I’ve just bought my ticket and I fly in from the States that morning. Any chance of a diversion?
