Did anyone go today?
Did anyone else know about the event?
I was a little disappointed that the Museum overall seems to have lost it’s way. I always think that museums tend to have a momentum either upwards or downwards (Duxford is on the up for example) but, for all its wonderful history, Brooklands seems to lack direction from a marketing point of view.
With the superb weather today, I was surprised how few punters there were and it’s the punters buying ice-creams, souveniers, simulator rides etc that bring in the cash. The people running the fly-in looked as though they were enjoying themselves but there was little attempt to explain to Joe Public what was happening or to squeeze money from their wallets. I am not having a go at the volunteers who obviously do a great job. But there must be tremendous preasure from property develepers to get their hands on this site and if nothing is done, I fear the worst. I know there must be Brooklands fans who want to keep it just as it is but avaition buffs alone will surely not make it financially viable.
What does anyone else think?

thanks for the photos, all very nice.
But if they are going to organise a fly-in and advertise it, does it not make sense to try to earn some cash from it? thats all I was saying.
And there was nothing around telling people that the Vangaurd was going to start up, simple things like signs up saying, “came and see the Vanguard at 2pm” and then pass the bucket round etc.it’s not rocket science

From what I heard, the PA got lost?!?!?!?! There was PA for the washed out Dambusters Event in May, so I can’t understand why they would have it this time. They have in the past. This was the second scheduled fly-in at Brooklands. One was meant to be held in May, but was cancelled at the last moment, and I don’t know why.
I don’t think this event was being run as a major event in their calendar, but more as an exercise. There was no extra charge to get in, it remained at normal museum rates. It may be different when larger Aviation events are run in the furture.
It seemed to be a test for the crews as while the Vanguard was being run up thier seemed to be a Safety Inspector (from the CAA?) commented on how things should be running to the organiser. The Fire team were also going through drills while the airfield was closed at lunch.
Console yourselves with some pictures:-
