Brooklands Museum (Aeroplanes).

Had a visit to Brooklands on Friday and found it quite interesting. For those who have not been, there is a numbered trail that takes you around the garages and the car collection and the hangers and aeroplane collection and even out onto what is left of the banked track.

All he did was just sit there and did nothing as I took his photo.

There are 2 buttons on the front of the barrier that “start him off’ Its pretty clever technology that evolved a bit since this one was installed.

Glad you enjoyed your visits, spread the word about a fantastic day out with something for everyone….for only £7!

Indeed so, lovely shots there. I too was at Brooklands the other day. Unfortunately it was an impulse visit so I had no camera etc, hence no pictures. Apologies! It was the first time I’ve been there and I was most impressed.

Two things though.

Great shots Pen Pusher, but did you not manage to get a shot of the Hurricane being restored?! I assume it was in the hangar next to ‘R – Robert’?

Secondly, did you see on your visit, the freaky Ani-bod thing sat in the car next to the Billiards Room?! I’m sure it’s great technology but I was very very freaked out by it, especially when it started humming!

Once again, brilliant pics.

Rich.

Thanks guys and for JDK another view of the ‘Full Scale Model’ of the Fury.

rich82, I presume you are talking about the guy in the red car. All he did was just sit there and did nothing as I took his photo.

Thanks for sharing the photos. Much appreciated.

I have to say the static replica* Hawker Fury looks a LOT more convincing as a finished job in your photo than it did when under construction. A very impressive result.

Cheers

*(Strictly speaking it’s a full scale model)

Does anyone know if there are plans to run the Vanguard’s engines again this year? If so, when?

The car in the “box” is a pre World War 1 Mercedes Grand Prix car. It is on loan to the Brooklands Museum, presumabley because Chrysler/Mercedes now own the remainder of the site.

Very nice photos, cheers for sharing them. Interesting car in the glass case type thing outside, did it say what sort of car it was?

Thanks chaps but sorry Rlangham, there was nothing on the box to say what the car was. It’s a travelling exhibit as I am sure I have seen it somewhere else before.

Lovely set of photos. I did not realise they had such a large collection there.
