Ok…….
i thought id make the most out of the sunshine and visit the local
however to be onest i didnt have a very good day
being new the photography im still learning new stuff however aircraft were landing RWY 09 and as BRS spotters know the spotting area is right by where they touch down, so i found it very difficult keeping up
anyway i thought id visit a different spot
first off i had to have a go at trying a spalding shot 😀 some how it just didnt work

Thanks for viewing

Thanks for that
take the flybe for example i think it would of been better if the propeller area wouldnt of been a little blurry
but these things i will learn but it makes it 100% more easier with people on here so thanks

Thanks for the Advice H
i dont know why but last time i went i had my ISO on 100 – maybe thats why i was having a little trouble with the blur
im glad you think my pictures are getting better makes me more positive 🙂
Take care
Most A/c shots are far enough away to have a large depth of field at a small F number (Big hole in iris). Small F number means fast shutter and vice versa.
So, if you use the camera on shutter priority, and use 500th or a 1000th for jets, the motion will freeze nicely, the camera (Set on ISO 100) will probably go off at F5.6 or F4 on a bright day.
For props, use no faster than 125th or you will freeze the prop blade, which always looks dreadful..in my opinion.

The F stop value alters your depth of field, having an Aperture (f-stop) of five is quite high and therefore the edges of some of your images are blurred as the camera picksits centre focus point, try lowering it to around 9
I usually use an ISO of 100 in good light and at least match the focal length to the shutter speed probably have a higher shutter speed to the focal length
There’s many websites that have tutorials for you to follow just type photography tutorial or similar into a search engine and theres more than enough to keep you busy!
Hope this helps
Keep practicing, your images are getting better each time.

Hi Rob,
Its great to see another BRS shooter on the forum.
Been a while since I had a go at the A38 spot but looks like you had some great light and some nice traffic to shoot.
What kit are you using (DSLR and lens or compact?) and on what settings?
I’m convinced that with a few simple changes when you shoot, your images could be improved and be more satisfying to you.
Cheers,
Phil.

Hi Rob,
Great selection of images there from a different perspective at Bristol.
Nice to see the Eastern & EasyJet ‘Edinburgh’ in the same picture, by chance look at what I also photographed today 😀

We must have literally just missed each other.
All the best

Don’t Beat yourself up about your photography,
Theres some nice catches in there, practice makes very good….. But no-one’s perfect!
Adjust the shutter speed, with all that sun you can afford to up it a little!
Try not to crop too much as this also causes pixalated images.
Nice catch with the Flybe
Saw they were landing on 09 today as they were going downwind over my house!
