Wow! That first CO 757 pic is stunning, so much so that I am using it as the picture for my PC’s desktop…hope you don’t mind?!:D
How I wish we had CO 757’s at LHR (we only have 767/777’s – which get a bit boring!), but I never get tired of seeing a 757 as I love the look of it with blended winglets!:)
Does anyone else find that they have a particular interest/favourite type of aircraft that they like the look of? If so, which one and why?

Very impressive shots, Rob. Do you need to use a ladder at BRS to avoid the fence?
Hey tom cheers …. Yes you do need a ladder to look over the fence at bristol
however i use the edge of my car when parked at the start of the viewing area or if you have a small lense you can put it through the fence gaps
Hope this helps for you

Adam …. yes the fence was aimed at you but only for abit of fun ,,,, i understand what you are saying and im trying to be more considerate to feedback …i apologise for jumping down your throat and will learn to control myself more often 🙂 … maybe a fresh start is in order = and thanks for the pat on the back 🙂
as for hms cc youve lost me!!!
Rob I appreciate your apology! Let’s sweep this matter under the carpet, and you can continue to concentrate on improving your images.
HMS CC – Well Paul came down to visit me down in Plymouth and so rather than spending our time drinking and generally causing mischief, we decided to go around renaming frigates.

I was being perfectly honest and it was put across in a very tactful way.
Yes… You were wording things rather tactfully that evening weren’t you, H.M.S. CC? :p

I don’t know whether that comment was aimed at me or not, but regardless it appears that you have taken on some advice and that is evident in this post. You have produced some of your best images so far so have a pat on the back.
i personally felt alittle suprised at adams post as i felt it was a little to harsh
I don’t think it was harsh – I was being perfectly honest and it was put across in a very tactful way.
You misread the point I was trying to put across – You believed that I was implying you were not a ‘considerate’ person. Instead I meant that you should ‘consider’ the advice given to you. If you read over the previous post you will see where the break down in communicate was.
Anyways moving swiftly on…..
A nice improvement Rob.

Hi Rob
Had a flying stop at Bristol on my way to Dorset on the 20th August. Managed to find where you spot from, and can see the difficulties there for photography with the fence. At least here at Doncaster our fence holes are a little wider, not a lot but every little helps. I must agree with the comments in the above postings. I have been impressed with most of your previous efforts, but this posting is by far the best you have achieved. One thing, but this is only a preference of my own, when shooting prop jobs, try a slower shutter speed to give a bit more movement in the propellers. At least yours a not completely frozen as is seen on some postings. Seems that you have taken past comments on board. Well done and am looking forward to seeing more from you.
Keep up the good work. You will not get it right every time (personal experience). You are always learning with this hobby as I well know.
All the best
Stu

As I say, the occasional kick up the backside is no bad thing and every time you get one, you learn from it, which makes it a good thing. 🙂
Paul
well paul keep kicking lol

i personally felt alittle suprised at adams post as i felt it was a little to harsh
Even if it came across as a little harsh, the most important thing is that it worked because this is by far your best post to date. I’ve said the same thing to Adam that he said to you, and others have said the same thing to me in the past as well (and occasionally still do). As I say, the occasional kick up the backside is no bad thing and every time you get one, you learn from it, which makes it a good thing. 🙂

OK first of all thank you guys for you kind comments
Paul , i personally felt alittle suprised at adams post as i felt it was a little to harsh and thats why maybe i over reacted and as you say jump down his throat , i do apologise for this and promise it wont happen again within reason. i lovee to receive negative feedback for my photos so it wasnt cause of that. I really wanted like you said to make sure this post added some stuff ive learnt from the helpful advice i get from people on this site and others and wanted to show i do really care and take in what people say but it just takes me time , i value the time and effort people have given me and i am trying 100% hence no fence action lol
Charlie – i use my camera on AV setting , i have my F-stop set to 5.6 and my ISO on 80 i dont do anything else other then point and shoot i hope this helps for you.
I learnt a new thing today , panning which im getting the hang off but i was alittle too far out i need to zoom in abit more
Thank you guys
Rob

Cracking pics! 🙂
Do you manually focus your pictures or let the camera do it automatically? You are lucky that the aircraft at Bristol have decent liverys, at Leeds I have great difficulty getting a sharp picture as on most days the Jet2 birds are the same colour as the sky!
I have a similar camera to you and I often get the settings completely wrong and just annoyed and let the camera sort it out for itself, I’m curious to know (if you can remeber) what sort of shutter speeds you are using for these pictures or are you using the auto program?
By: PMN - 3rd September 2008 at 19:17
Well… What can I say? This is by far your best photo post yet, Rob. The sharpness and exposure are way better than your previous posts, which says to me you’re being more selective, which is a very good thing!
One thing I would say just referring back to a previous post, and feel free to ignore this advice if you like, but when someone makes a criticism try not to jump down their throat. There’s as much to be learned from someone saying how not to do things as there is from saying how to do things. When Adam made his comment in your previous thread and you had a bit of a go at him, the point he was making was intended to help you and by the look of this thread, it did just that because your photos have improved and they’re far better than your previous ones. An occasional kick up the backside is never a bad thing. I should know, I’ve had enough of them both in photography and in music! What you have to aim to do now is get the same level of sharpness when the weather is a little more unforgiving, but it will come with practice.
Keep up the good work, Rob. An excellent improvement! 🙂
