BRS's runway in the news again!

This was the lead story on BBC Points West this evening, despite the fact it’s quite obvious to anyone what a fuss about nothing it is!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bristol/6379213.stm

I would appear that this is a classic example of some little known, rather ignorent MP jumping on the bandwagon in the hope of gaining some publicity!

Mr Robertson said, “…the captain came on and said ‘you’ve obviously heard about the difficulties they’ve had in Bristol. We’ve been advised it wouldn’t be safe to land if it’s too wet and as there’s been a bit of a very heavy downpour, we can’t land just yet as we have to wait for the runway to dry off…the plane circled for about 20 minutes before it landed”. 😮

However, in a statemennt easyJet said: “Last night (Monday) easyJet flight EZY 452 from Belfast to Bristol, circled prior to landing for approximately five minutes due to high winds and rain at Bristol International Airport, this is standard operating procedure in adverse weather conditions and the aircraft landed normally… At no stage did the captain advise passengers the ‘runway was unsafe’.”

Just a go-around!

This winds me up, I saw the local news tonight with this prat on there, the quoted time on the news was 15 minutes holding, LIKE the runway will dry enough in time in 15 minutes if this were the issue, I was flying in and out of Bristol yesterday and today, and we had crosswinds of 15kts, the TAF reported them getting alot stronger by the evening along with driving rain, this is not ideal conditions regardless of where you are trying to put the plane down.
As usual, drivel coming from someone who knows absolutely nothing about aviation at all, and what is even worse is that the BBC does absolutely no research on it at all, they just report what is told.
