BRU-NCL on SNBA

The report of the return flight.

Flight was SN2189, 2nd April 2006.

We checked out of the hotel and caught a taxi to Centraal station. We waited on the underground platform in this depressing hole and saw the train to Oostende via divine Brugge come in and depart on the platform next to ours. How I wish I was on that train! Then the sh*tty to Leuven via Brussels Airport came in and we got on that.

We checked in and were given seats 11A and 11C. We had a snack and a drink in Brussels Cafe and headed through the security check because all the seats airside in the cafe area were taken up by tramps and vagrants. A tramp was asleep in the area where the paintings are shown. If BRU is not careful it will get the reputation as a dossing ground for tramps and other low lifes and paying passengers will not like it. It looks bad and is a security risk. You report the unattended bags to the police and they do nothing – the tramps leave their stuff all over. We had never noticed this problem until November last year, and it has got worse.

We were to depart from gate B97. We had not seen any signs of Stinker (BAe 146 OO-DJG) so we hoped that SNBA were not saving that aircraft for the flight to NCL.

At gate B97 we were horrified to see that there were loads of kids going on the flight. I hoped they would not be noisy.

We were bussed to our aircraft.

Old friend ARJ85 OO-DJK waits for us.

We were greeted by the female purser, and went to our seats. We had a back engine view.

Flight SN2189 was scheduled to depart at 14:50.

A lads weekend away gang were in the rows in front, one dressed as a fairy complete with wings. They were a lively bunch and certainly kept everyone amused!

We were pushed back at 14:51 and taxied to the runway. Take off was at 15:05.

OK, that’s enough.

Some of the more recent postings on this thread are perilously close to being personal attacks on someone who has has taken the trouble to post a trip report here and has simply expressed her opinion of several aspects of the trip.

Nobody is obliged to agree with what she has to say, and I think that everyone has had their say now.

Thread closed.

There’s a pub and a cafe in the departure area where you can buy hot food in NCL.

You do like a whinge don’t you? I make that 8 complaints in that report. Strikes me the only thing you actually like about flying is that SNBA give you chocolates. Buy a box and stay at home. It’d be cheaper!

people nearly missed their flight out from NCL because of a gate change

Did you read in your last trip report that I had found out why you had a gate change at NCL?

No COSTAlots – they’re normally quick to take advantage of a place with more than 3 or 4 people frequenting to take their money in daylight robbery,

Thanks for the info Comet – love the report and pics,

Wozza

Nope we don’t have one yet.

Pity we are back there in September and not my beloved BHX.

Yes is it a pity, for the nice workers of Newcastle airport!

All LBA has landside is the usual overpriced airport cafe, Burger King, Yates’s, O’Briens and Greggs so I don’t think you would like there either!

Nice report :).

On NCL – we booked the September flights back in January, before we had tried NCL for the first time. That is why we are flying from there again.

As for “deal with it” – people nearly missed their flight out from NCL because of a gate change and absolutely no information provided on the screens they are so fond of telling you to check. That airport would be better if you could get a proper meal in the public area instead of sandwiches, pasties and nothing else. It is the most badly run and managed UK airport I have ever used.

Stinker – I gave the plane that name last year when we flew back from BRU on it and someone had recently been sick and that was all you could smell when you got on the plane. I always thought that plane was a litle bit shabbier than the others, probably owing to the fact that it is one of the older planes in the fleet.

The service on SNBA is very good, the crews are generally very pleasant and friendly. Next time we fly it will be early morning so hopefully we will get a breakfast snack rather than an apple tart. The cherry tarts are nice though.

How may I ask has OO-DJG earned the name ‘stinker’ may I ask?

Great report there, loving the pic of your finger!

Nice report there ,but if you don’t like NCL then why fly there again?

I must give SNBA a try next year 😀

We flew towards the delightful Atomium, Europe’s greatest landmark and so much better than the Eiffel Tower.

Towards the Atomium.

A loud taped advert for the SN website was played in the aircraft, and it seemed a cheap and tacky thing to do on a proper carrier. This is SNBA not Ryanair!

The snack from the flight. I didn’t eat it, I am sick of apple tart or apple crumble each time I fly on SNBA.

We flew through alot of cloud, and have no idea if we flew near Scarborough or not.

My drink on the flight – a can of Maes!

I had a green and orange label chocolate and we started our descent. It was a turbulent descent through cloud.

At 15:08 we touched down at NCL, and it was raining. We had a good flight with a very pleasant crew. We disembarked down steps and into the rain and then collected our luggage and headed away from NCL.

Pity we are back there in September and not my beloved BHX.
