Bruntingthorpe Canberra Inquiries

I have a question with regards to the pair of Canberra’s stored at Bruntingthorpe. WT333 and XH568 have both been stored there for a number of years XH568. Anyone know when they last flew? I read that XH568 was displayed for a number of seasons. I believe that are still owned by Classic Aircraft Projects. Are they maintained in running order or taxied like many of the other jets at Bruntingthorpe.

RE: Bruntingthorpe Canberra Inquiries

How is the restoration/rebuild of WK163 going at Coventry?
Look forward to seeing it back on the circuit in 2003.

Just reading your post again Dave – where did WT333 engines go ? Are they being used in connection with ‘163’?

Thanks for the correction Dave – this was information gleaned from a visit in November. Obviously the ability to take flight is greatly reduced by the spares recovery – does she still belong to the gentlemen from Pershore who purchased her about four years ago ?

RE: Bruntingthorpe Canberra Inquiries

To all

XH568 last flew in Sept 1996, the last flight being the transit from Jersey to Bruntingthorpe. WT333 was sold by CAP in 1997 to R Wintle and A Perks who have kept the aircraft in working order since the purchase. Two Avon 109’s were recently purchased from Stafford to eventually alow the aircraft to be taxied.

XH568 has been gradually spares recoverd to support WK163.
Contrary to Mr Burke’s post there are no plans to scrap this airframe! No decision has yet been made as to its future.

Hi David,
Do you know if all avenues have been explored with regards to saving XH568?It occurs to me that the FAST guys at Farnborough might be glad of her to go alongside thier other Rasberry-Rippled relics.Bit of a long shot maybe, but it seems such a shame to just bulldoze the old girl.

Canberra XH568 has been spares recovered and is lined up to be scrapped. Canberra WT333 is being sorted out so she can taxi- a pair of engines have been acquired for her and work is in progress

RE: Bruntingthorpe Canberra Inquiries

Thanks for the info. I didn’t realize that the engines had
been removed. I guess no plans are in place to put them in the air in the near future then.

Great picture…looks ready for take off..maybe a big rubber band might hold her down.
