Bruntingthorpe Cold War Jets Open Day 26th August

Sunday 26th of August! Its that time of year again for those of us who like the sound of jet noise to get their fix. and here’s hoping for a two ship Lightning display once again! and possibly a new performer on the runway as well?

Going off topic I know, and I apologise for that, but what is actually happening at Cosford? When the British Airways Collection was dispersed/disposed of/scrapped I was told by many at Cosford it was because as part of the plan for the NCWM that no more airframes, other than the Hunter on the gate, the Neptune and the Brittania, were to be to be displayed outside. Since then a Hercules and Nimrod have arrived and now a VC10 is due. Is it likely that a Tristar will find its way there too?

Again, apologies for the thread drift and I hope all goes well for the open day on Sunday.

Regards,

A post on Pprune says the VC10 will retire on the 28th August after a 3 ship flypast of its former bases.

surely that will be for the one version (C.1K?), thought the type as a whole was retiring in spring ’13?
As TT mentions, one of the C.1Ks, XR808 is set to go to Cosford.

I know 🙁 one goes Cosford but just because retired does not mean finished, they can then ferry.

Aha getting me worried like that

Looking at the Lossie facebook site one poster mentions it is to mark the VC10’s retirement from AT Ops, it will continue tankering until Mar 13 as planned.

I hope they invite ex Ten guys to the last do, so I can go.

Less than a week to go and it looks as if the L29 Delfin will be joining the line up for the first time looking very good in its new paint too!
