Yet another brilliant day out, lots to see and spectacular displays and taxi runs. Weather was a bit on the cloudy side to get any decent photos and difficult to get a good position, due to the extra visitors this time round. Here are a few shots I managed to grab, not up to my normal standard this time.

Could someone please tell me why they will never fly? is it due to mechanical issues or bureaucratic BS?
The latter would fit the bill as the CAA will not sanction Lightnings to fly, complicated aircraft seemingly.

Even if you mentioned that this is not up to your normal standards, I think this set is a real treat. Just sad to know that we won’t be able to see it invade the skies again. Thanks for sharing.

Great job. It must take an enormous amount of resources to make it happen. I would love to see it fly again one day.
Cheers.
As has been told many times before, there is no chance at all of any of the Bruntingthorpe Lightnings being able to fly. Enjoy the fast taxi runs while you can is all I can say on the matter.

It sure is some accomplishment the LPG have achieved and considering the years that have gone by since the Lightnings were in service, a tribute to the dedication of the team. It is only in the last 2 years that I got involved with the group and only occasionally get up to Bruntingthorpe, but it’s a privilege to be able to contribute to the care such iconic aircraft.

Just to see the Lighting alive and kicking is a real treat.
Thanks!
