During a visit to the Cold War Jets show at Brunty, we visited the hanger of 558, for warmth and dryness as the weather was terrible on the day and to say we got drenched is an understatement!
It was in said hanger that I was able to get my camera out, as fear of damage from the rain prevented me from taking it out during the fast taxi runs outside.
As far as I’m concerned, 558 will not be flying over the Mall this month as their appears to be just far to much to do on the aircraft, in fact, I’ll be very surprised it will fly at all this year, but, saying that, I’m not a member of this organisation and don’t know how quick it is to put together a Vulcan on limited funds.
Judge for yourselves!
Don’t see what all the flaps about!
I apolagise for the quality of the images, but the hanger was poorly lit and I had to dodge a few bodys to get these shots.
All in all it looks quite impressive sat inside this big hanger and the new U/C thats fitted looks the dogs, but how much longer is this massive, multi million pound project gonna take to get airbourne? Lets hope not too long, cause I for one am looking forward to seeing her back in the air!;)
A big thank you must go out to Rich Blood and his gang for had it not been for him, our day at Bruntingthorpe may not of happened.

Ive praised the Beech 18 already on other threads Mr Langham as you well know. :p
I saw you in the Beech Hanger on the Cold War weekend. Finished my conversation with one of the chaps I was with turned around and then you’d gone.
Fingers crossed I will be there. Catch up with you then.

Wot no Beech 18? 😀
Didn’t realise the Vulcan hangar was open, would have gone over and have a look myself. Are you two coming over again to the Lightning QRA day on the 22nd July? Hopefully the weather will be a lot better (that said, couldn’t have been much worse!)

I can assure you mate it wasn’t just my face that was blue:D
Agreed though, the Lightning boys won hands down for me that wet and windy Sunday. I think my ears are still trying to recover from the ear splitting crackle of those burners now………or is it the cold that did that:rolleyes:
Looking forward to the weekend and my ten days off work from Wednesday. Gonna tear into the Phantom big time mate and hope you will be there to guide me Sat and Sun…..weather permitting:D

You say the camera needed protecting from the rain? I think it was you that needed that matey.
Never seen someone go so blue before. With every min that went by you looked more and more like Papa Smurf. 😮
Bloomin wet and windy but well worth the trip.
As much as I hope the Vulcan flys my money and support went to the Lightning Preservation Group. Fantastic project and cant wait to see the QRA shed operational.

Jersey Air Display
With the project having some connections to Jersey in the Channel Islands with the financing of some of the project and the aircraft is down hopefully to come to Jersey there air display might be one of a few that she will be taking part in.
We are all looking forward to see her back in the air but there are some displays she will not make so the ones later in the year might have a better chance.
Good luck to all on the project.
