Hi all
We would just like to say what a great day we had at Bruntingthorpe yesterday. The weather was brilliant and it was as allways a great show. The thrill of being in such close proximity to all that noise and power is like a drug to all us power freaks! And for me, the J.P. low and fast flypast was my best bit!
On a personal note, we were displaying our Chipmunk Cockpit for the Leicester Hospitals Charity, Genfield Hospital Childrens Heart Unit, and raised £60.20 in donations on the day, so a big thank you to anyone who donated to us.
It would be great to see photo’s from yesterday, as we were to busy to take any!!
Thanks again,
Ritch & Max (and Sadie).

I think it’s a wonderful day out, it’s more like a love museum than a conventional airshow but there’s usually a couple of flying guests. There certainly isn’t anywhere else like it in the country.
Creaking Door, it’s almost always held every May (last) and August bank holiday Sundays. You’re right though, the update threads always used to be fascinating.

Excitement apart, the Brunty experience gives the younger generation a chance to see, hear and smell vintage jet aircraft up close that they would otherwise only see static in a museum. My eldest son is both mesmerised and excited when at Brunty but cannot hold his attention for longer than five minutes looking at the same aircraft types in museums.

Especially when it’s only twenty feet away from you…..

I must lead a very boring life compared to Orion – as I found it awe inspring – and I’ve been to lots of airshows all over the world.

Horses for courses but you can’t deny that a Lightning at full burner is pretty awe inspiring.

Well, I went; my first time. What a boring experience it was too. I’ve had more fun waiting for paint to dry. Not again.

I’ve been to a few of these open days before at Bruntingthorpe and I’ve always enjoyed them.
It would be nice if somebody could post a ‘heads-up’ a month or so in advance; there used to be forum members that would regularly post updates about the progress on the various projects and upcoming events…
…but that doesn’t seem to happen anymore. I wonder why not?

It didn’t run because it’s starter unit was u/s.
Oh ok thanks Hampden, I wasnt sure if it was related to the Nimrod being run as well?

Can I echo your comments? – it was the first time I had visited – and thoroughly enjoyed the event.
A few of my photos from the day…
