Bruntingthorpe open day canceled.

Hi all
I have just been informed that the August 31st open day at Bruntingthorpe has been canceled. The reason given, is that there are to many stored verchials on the airfield to move, to enable the open day to take place.
This information came to me via the gate house at the airfield, so is to the very best of my knowlege true.

Buccaneers XX900 and possibly XX894 are going to be ‘on the move’ for anyone who’s planning on attending Sunday?

I believe some of the LPG crew will be there this weekend working on 728’s jet pipes and painting the Q’shed.

Regards,

John.

Like the Lightning lads, we have arranged our lives around the open day, so will most probably still go down and open up the Super Guppy and a few cockpits for the day, just in case anyone still turns up expecting a show.
We may also do an engine run on our Jet Provost, XN584, depending on weather and space available.

Last Sunday (24th Aug) Me and my better half paid a visit to Brunty and we were very impressed by the welcome we had. Special mention to the gents who opened up the Guppy so we could have a peek inside, also the guy getting the Beech ready for flight found time to answer questions. Shame we didn’t see anyone from the LPG, but there is always another time. A big thanks to all of you guys, We will definitely be down again soon.

Airfield Open

I have just been informed that even though the show has been cancelled the Red Arrows are going to do a “fly by” at around 17-40 on Sunday afternoon at Bruntingthorpe, on there way back to Scampton from Bournemouth.

Well that sounds good, even though there is no fast taxi action on sunday the Canberra team will still be on site and we will have more time to show any visitors around the aircraft, and with a small amount of persuasion we may do some engine runs !

No offence intended!

Tell you what Newforest, next time you can get over to Bruntingthorpe, let me know and I will be happy to show you around personally, so now lets shake hands and be friends.
To be honest, I lost out on a couple of years of education due to a childhood illness, which has left me somewhat handicapped ever since, so I learned to use my hands to make my way in life instead, but sometimes I get a bit tetchy about it, so sorry if I was a bit off.
And the offer to show you around at Bruntingthorpe is genuine, its always good to meet people and put a face to an online name.

But I am sorry if my lack of education offends you, I will try harder in the future.

No apologies necessary except for your misunderstanding of the situation! I have the utmost respect and admiration for your talents and contributions to the Forum!

It is my ignorance of the situation at B and apparant lack of knowledge concerning current car models, it is a car is it?:D

Sorry if you are offended!

Newforest
Unfortunately I can’t spell very well, if I could, I would probably have been able to get a better job than aircraft engineering, and have made a much better living. Mind you, if that had happened, I probably wouldn’t be able to run and maintain the Jet Provost the way I do, and then you people wouldn’t be able to come and watch us doing it, so, I don’t care if I cant spell, so long as I can still smell the jet fuel!!!
But I am sorry if my lack of education offends you, I will try harder in the future.

Am I the only one here that would love to witness the live firing of two Redtop missiles from a Lightning into 5000 + Vauxhalls, am I?

Or better still a demonstration of the Black Buck mission involving XH558 and some surplus ordnance.

Buccsociety has it about right, remember the vehicle storage contracts are the bread and butter income for Bruntingthorpe, none of us would be there rent free/come and go as we please and are allowed to hold public open days for free, if it wernt for these cars and Davids generosity we would be nowhere.

Cheers

I am led to believe through my close contacts within the motor industry, that a further 5000 Vauxhall’s are due to stored at Bruntingthorpe over the coming weeks, even more space taken by vehicles, but business is business.

I don’t believe it, verchials are not in my dictionary, so what is the real reason?:D

Dam it !!!!:diablo: Will it go a head at a later date?

Probably not, sorry, we the LPG are planning to re run our cancelled twlight static reheat ‘do’ in early Nov, more info when I have it.

We are as disapointed as everyone

Sorry

We have to respect Davids commercial decsion and support him, as he has been unstinting in supporting us over the last 20 years.

Remember there is still the twlight bash coming up in Nov
More on that one when I know

We still intend to be at the airfield all weekend, as we have all planned our ‘life’ around being there, we now intend to have half our ‘crew’ on painting and the other half on ‘chucking’ the pipes back in 728, as while Ive been on ‘me jollies’ Jim and Jack have pressure tested the AMCU and done all the other checks and Im glad to say all is good.
The areos will be open if anyone wants to have a look, we might be busy, and you might hear some interesting ‘words’ but thats Lightnings

Cheers
