Bruntingthorpe photo's (at blimmin last…)

Right, here we go with some of the shots I managed to get at Bruntingthorpe the weekend before last. Sorry about the delay, things have been a tad hectic of late. Anyway, first batch, Texantomcat’s rather gorgeous looking Beech 18… 🙂

Cheers Ben, glad you like the shots. Unfortunately those were the only ones I got of the Beech. Thought I’d done more. I’ll try to have a word with Jen over the next few days, see whether she took any that she can add.

One for next time indeed… my first visit to Bruntingthorpe will certainly not be my last. Many thanks for showing us around, ’twas a super day. 🙂

4 & 5 – This is what happens when you let 2 Squadron have too much free time…

Looks suspiciously like the remnants of a Beech Baron 55 that’s had a very bad day! Although I must say that the car that’s crushed beneath it may have some issues too 😀

I’ll have another look at my pics tonight to see if they’re worth posting – Wasn’t that impressed by my efforts TBH!

Great day – I must have been within a few feet of Steve on a few occasions that afternoon (I didn’t arrive until a few minutes before the first Lightning run).

The Beech looks very nice, looking forward to seeing it up and about soon. Did you happen to see the Harvard restoration projects???

Which Harvards are these? Hope to see the Beech 18 fly before too long!

Y11F – I did indeed; both projects seem to be of a very high standard (no different to the Beech then), but still have a long way to go. Didn’t get any photo’s though, as they’re both tucked away and I wasn’t sure whether the owners would be happy to see images of their birds posted on a forum. If in doubt, put the camera away. 🙂

Thanks for the update, must make a mental note to get up and take a look one day. As you say, if in doubt……

mmitch – more of a fire risk I think mate. Ouch!

Robbo – there’s more where that one came from. Be afraid. Be very afraid… 😀

Excellent photo report Steve.
Question: Do they allow hairy legs in a Lightning or would they be classed as a FOD risk? 🙂

And finally… (I can hear the dial up users breathing a sigh of relief!) the Victor.

I remember being in a hangar full of these at Marham in 85, a mixture of 57 Sqn and the blue handed spear chuckers (55). Teasin’ Tina here is an ex 55 Sqn bird, and this was the first time since 1986 that I’d seen a Victor move under it’s own power. And God what power! You’ll see from the penultimate photo.

Oh, and nice to have another Victor make a pass overhead while Teasin’ Tina was getting ready… 😉
