Bruntingthorpe volunteer drive

We all know it we all love it and I have no doubt if your passion is classic jets you will have been there. Yes Iam talking about Bruntingthorpe, Leicestershire. The Cold War Jets Collection owned by C Walton Ltd and under the directorship of David Walton, he has saved many a good aircraft for us to enjoy. In my opion he deserves an M.B.E or something he has done so much in saving these classics. I guess footballers and singers mean more to the nation?
We are now needing more volunteers to keep this collection up to form, with the ever increasing aircraft and ground support equipment more bodies are needed. Just think you could be part of a cog in the wheel that keeps driving this museum. And what aircraft indeed: Comet Nimrod Iskra Guppy Buccaneer Victor Jaguar. So if your ex Raf or serving, come to that any armed forces and want to to apply your (old) trade your more than welcome, are you a lorry driver? perfect for moving the aircraft around with the tugs, a handy man or woman who can turn your hand to anything than theres something here for you. or good with petrol or diesel engines because theres plenty here. From being a grease monkey to a handy DIY man its here waiting for you. So if you live in the Leicestershire area or dont mind the journey from where you live, what are you waiting for! Thats how I got started, now iam Crew Chief on Buccaneer XX900, Like me you will feel your doing your part in keeping classic British aircraft alive, where else would you see this in UK come to that the world.http://www.bruntingthorpe.com
So please add your comments here, follow the link or pop in and ask to speak to David you will be made to feel very welcome.
Many thanks Bucc900

beech boys

Matt,
thanks for posting this, what a friendly team you have at Brunty.
I am looking forward to my first weekend with the team at the end of Feb.

There is lots to do so if there are any other ERKS want to roll up their sleeves and come along you will be made most welcome.

You don’t have any aviation experience so don’t let that hold you back I will be running training sessions for anyone interested.

Kind regards
Mike

you are most welcome to pop over to the beech restorations hangar anytime for a look about.

always looking for decent blokes to work on soon to be airworthy aircraft

Taken at Brunters around 5 years ago for Discovery Wings, Voice over by Harry Enfield.
When you see this and it only shows two aircraft just think, all volunteers running this massive collection and you could be part of it.

Making a differance

Having read our request for new volunteers, Mike with 16 years RAF experience has made the calling, Hercs, JP’s, SeaVixen he is going to be made very welcome here. I for one would like to say a big thanks to Mike and look forward to working with him.
A Tornado or Harrier could be on the cards but for the want of manpower this is not possible, So be like Mike and be part of the Uk’s largest living aircraft collection.
MIke and Dave Walton owner of the collection and MD of C.Walton Ltd meet and talk aircraft.

Hi thanks for your reply. No you dont have to have any previous history with working on aircraft. But if youve got the passion for aircraft you will be able to lend your hand to anything here, Learning curve. And the results, the big open days which we all enjoy but none of it is possible without volunteers. Hope this helps
Thanks Bucc900

Hello Darren. Julian is right give it a try what have you got to loose, but think of the rewards. Where else in the Uk and take part in such a large collection of LIVE jets. When you walk away at the end of the day you will feel like a millionaire, because you have made it happen. Bucc900 🙂

It just depends which area or aircraft you would like to volunteer in? So if a week day is your thing, turn up at the gate house and ask to speak to David Walton who will then point you in the right direction. Or if its a weekend thing we have a fantastic chap who comes up who will make you feel very welcome and get the ball rolling for you. Just pm me first,so things are in place for you.
Bleak in the winter like it is anywhere but heaven in the summer months. Not many places with that kind of atmosphere (usually kerosene).
Really is that simple folks.

ME109g4. Weve got a 2 mile runway you could commute by doing it by air. Direct flights from the Bruntingthorpe to the USA with a Comet 4c, how cool would that be?

As Adrains Says Gingie we allow for children to, as long as there with an adult under their supervision. When kids come more othen than not they love it.
Leicestershires very own airforce.
Thanks Bucc900

Trust me he will love it, however a couple of questions he’ll ask, ” Dad, shall I wear my camo gear or my RAF uniform” and also “When can I fire her up” I think I know the answer to both!

We’ve been to Brunty to photograph the old RAF buildings had had a good walk round the peri track, also he got to go in a Noble round the track, “thank you mystery chap”

Whats the next step, just turn up and get down and dirty?

Thanks for that Tony T. look forward to seeing you here when she comes, Dont forget Mays open day come along if your free, get to meet us. You sound just the right man for crew chief on the mighty 10. With the last one going out in 2013 you dont have long to wait. Brunters airforce will soon out match the RAF? As Adrains Says Gingie we allow for children to, as long as there with an adult under their supervision. When kids come more othen than not they love it.
