Hello,
Does anyone have any information about the TS11 Iskra at Bruntingthorpe? Who owns the aircraft, how did it come to be in the UK etc?
Are there any other Iskra’s in the UK? Does anyone know if there are any flying in private hands, or if it would be at all possible to get a permit to fly one in the UK?
It would be great to hear a bit more about the Bruntingthorpe aircraft… I hope someone can help!
Many thanks

Here’s a picture of the same one, when it was originally at Shoreham as SP-DOF. We were all amazed when it ultimately flew off after being a hangar queen for so long.

Bruntingthorpe Iskra.
The Iskra at Bruntingthorpe, is owned by David Walton and is part of the Cold War Jet Collection. It is kept in “fast taxiable” condition by the volunteers at the collection, and takes part in the “big thunder” open days.
There is also, as already stated, a second aircraft at the MAM, Coventry, presently dismantled.
If you have a specific interest in this aircraft, I may be able to put you in touch with the people you want to talk to!
Best wishes.

Hi VX927
There is currently an Iskra at the Midland Air Museum, it’s been stored on dispaly with its wings off but I believe there is plans when there is time to reattach the wings. It’s in pretty good condition too apart from one or two dents sustained over the years!.
I believe it arrived without it’s wing-bolts. I think these are tapered and new ones are having to be machined.
