Jaguar GR.1 XZ382 has now been repainted in a Jaguar racing green colour and is soon to be displayed on the gate.
It may not be authentic, but at least the new coat of paint will help preserve it!

You guys would freak if you saw one the T38’s at Van Nuys. It’s painted purple with pink pearl so at certain angles in looks BRIGHT metallic pink.

Hmmm it looks better than the last time I saw it half grey with a black nose

It’s nice to know this will help prolong the aircrafts life, but my word it looks horrendous!
I never said I liked it, I think it looks awful, but its not mine, I didnt pay for it and like has been said above it will give it a few more years, and not end up as tin cans.

In the context of ‘does it look good’ – I stand by my opinion. eurgh!
in the context of ‘it will last longer and someone else paid for it’ then – hoorah, but eurgh!

I agree Andy
we do sometimes take for granted the kindness offered by the Walton family……….. others don’t realise.
Dave actually spent £10,000 on getting it stripped, filled and painted!!
What a complete waste. Money to burn some people…. 😡

I had assumed he had spent some money on it to get it painted.
Enough said.
We dont take any of the kindness the Waltons show us for granted, we would be know where if it werent for their generosity which started back in 1987.

I have just got to add my two pennies to this thread,
I know its not the correct colour, but hay, someone has taken time out to take it apart, clean it and paint it, it will give it a few more years, all these things come down to time and money and someone has put their hand in their pocket and spent some money.
Bruntingthorpe is first and foremost an automotive site, without this bussiness we the owners of all these lovely old jets that we keep in running condition for all to come and enjoy out of our own pockets, wouldnt have a free home that we treat as our own, and all our money would go on ground rentals, with nothing left for insurance and fuel.
I assume the Waltons might have a big Jaguar event/contract and gave it a lick of paint for the customer, it was badly in need of some TLC.
I say well doneAndy B (LPG)

pimpin
That is repulsive. Its almost beats the Trocadero Harrier!
Completely irrelevant to both Jaguars.
Pimp my mud mover.

PERFECT!!
I may be a tad biased here because it’s almost the exact colour of my Kaw ZRX1100 🙂
Almost got lynched by some Shelby guys when I told em I was gonna paint my FFR Cobra that colour…

Well, I suppose a preserved metallic green Jaguar is better than a scrapped Jaguar, but even so, ew.
Looks like it just needs a loud stereo and a Halford’s body kit to finish it off (literally).

the wing is off so it would fit in the spray booth……………..
the booth is designed for 40′ trucks not aircraft

Sadly this machine is well beyond returning to taxing condition, especially seeing as there is going to be a whole host of better conditioned Jaguars retiring from front line service soon!
Bruntingthorpe is primarily associated with cars these days, so I assume the paint scheme has something to do with that.
