Brussels, and how to survive there.

Here’s a first – me asking a serious question.

I’ve been offered a new job within my current company, but it requires me to relocate to Brussels. As long as the package is right, I intend to take the job and move out to Belgium permanently in late summer. At the moment I’m not sure whether I’m ecstatic or terrified.

Now, apart from using funny money, driving on the wrong side of the road, and talking in a strange language 😉 , I’m trying to find out what the significant differences are between life in the UK and life in Brussels. I’m specifically wondering about rental costs for a flat, the levels of tax I’ll have to pay, taking my car out there with me, and generally anything that I’ll need to know.

Does anyone on here have any experience of leaving the UK to live on mainland Europe, or do any of our resident Belgians have any advice they could offer me?

All info gratefully received…

Cheers,

Steve
