Brussels to Birmingham on SN Brussels Airlines

Here is the return report from 3rd November.

We were flying back to BHX on SN2047, scheduled departure time of 18:40. We waited at gate B29 in BRU departure hall before being called to board the aircraft at 18:18 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

The flight was operated by BAe 146 OO-DJG. There were two stewardesses on board, and we had been given seats 4A and 4C. This was the front row of economy, with the intrusive divider curtain in front of us, and a front engine view through the window. These are the worst seats in the aircraft, it is better further back.

At 18:37 we were pushed back and taxied to our take off position. We were told the flight would last one hour. The stewardesses on this flight did not hand out an in flight magazine, so SNBA lost points on that. We took off at 18:50, and climbed above a beautifully lit city.

The in flgiht snack consisted of a chicken salad sandwich on malted bread, a small mars sweet and Dutch mineral water. I also had orange juice. It was quite a pleasant snack.

The pilot announced that the weather near BHX was good, but we could expect some winds on landing. The stewardesses handed out Belgian chocolates and I took a green label Neuhaus one.

At 18:48 we had a smooth landing in BHX, and I have no more trips to Brussels booked 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

1. Train in Brussels Airport station.

2. The line up at Brussels. Taken when it was dark.

3. Croatian aircraft joining the line up.

4. OO-DJG at the departure gate.

5. Through the window at seat 4A.

6. The bright light of a LOT 737 taxi-ing for departure.

7. The in flgiht snack.

The “meal box” looks the same as the ones BA gives out in Euro Traveller.

The last time I flew BA, we got…mineral water, small choccie, wallet containing plastic kinife, fork, salt, sugar, and a plastic wrapped sandwich in a near identical box. That was LGW-CDG (which was canned 2 days after I flew that route).

The previous day I flew LHR-NCE and the catering was identical, except the cold sarnie was replaced by a warm cheese and ham ciabatta.

Do you think they share catering?

Thanks for the comments. It was good to fly the A319 one way and the 146 the other, when I flew on those same flights in March it was an ARJ both ways (but I am certainly not complaining 😀 because the service was awesome).

I was pleased with the photos, because it was very much a try-out for my new camera, I had not taken night shots in an airport before and I was pleased that they came out looking like they were taken in daylight.

Thanks for comments. 😀

I had orange juice as well as the water, no tropical juice this time, just when I would have liked some. And I missed the beer because I had some earlier (Primus on the Grand Place) and I had been on a beer shopping trip to get my favourite types which I cannot get at home.

Brussels is a great place – it has all the associations with things I like – great eating, good beer, some beautiful buildings to photograph. And I always loved flying on Sabena (though VLM are great too 😀 ) Good to see SNBA continuing the SN tradition 😀

It’s great to see you enjoy SN-airlines and Belgium so much Comet. Bad luck though that your seats where at the front row. Did you choose for orange juice again instead of the tropical. 😉

Nice report.
