She sits at Staverton Airport, sunk up to her wheel forks in the ground and looking rather neglected, but a bright future has been secured for Buccaneer XX889.
During the early part of January, 2006, A deal was struck that will see 889, move from Staverton, to Kemble Airfield, to come under major restoration by the Blackburn Buccaneer Society (BBS).
The move, which is planned to take place over the early part of the Spring, and is to be carried out by GJD Services, Charles Russell Transport and the BBS.
Current plans are to jack up the aircraft and replace the collapsed wheels with refurbished units and then tow her out of her current location, on heavy duty turf matting, to a nearby hard stand where she can be dismantled ready for the 20 or so mile journey down the A417.
The plan is to have 889 ready and available for static display at this years Kemble Air Day, which is to be held on Sunday 18, June.
The team are under no illusion that they have a great deal of work in front of them and it could be sometime before some of the systems are able to be reactivated, in the meantime, check the societies web site for monthly updates on her progress. Blackburn Buccaneer Society

Great news, it’ll be good to see a Buccaneer back at Kemble. Will she be kept under cover or outside?
Andy
Unfortunately she will be outside Andy, but who knows what could happen in the future.
The fortunate thing is, we will have access to Electrics, Water and a darn fine bar/restaurant.
