This is an awesome series of video clips on the buccaneer!! Incidentally, what was the reason they were scrapped?

Hi,
The Brunty Bucc XX900 that has neen doing taxy demos on previous open days will be running again in 2008, when these will be is still not confirmed.;)
The other Bucc XX894 is close to taxying infornt of the public, maybe Plazz could add an updade here ?
All of the taxying aircraft at Brunty are having insurance issues that are being worked on at the moment, so watch this space 😉
Cheers

To be honest, on first acquaintance, never thought much of them because of not really knowing their history. But I have done quite a bit of research and now – what an aircraft!! Probably felt the same as the RAF did at the time with all the stuff with the TSR2, to be honest, but after reading, what an aircraft!!
How are the guys at Scampton getting on with the return to flight??
And, not forgetting, you guys at Brunty, i’ve seen the engine and cockpit demos that are superb, but when will one taxi again at Brunty?? I have never seen one and I am desperate…
By the way chaps, sorry for all the questions, haven’t been here for a while due to work etc. I hope everyone is well! 🙂

Thanks Buccsociety
I thought it must be the cost involved in keeping them flying! They do look a tough looking bird even by today’s standards!

what was the reason they were scrapped?
They had reached the end of their cost effective life, the cost of upgrading the Bucc’s to continue in service, would have been huge.

Most of the footage is taken from the 5 or 6 publically available Video’s/DVD’s, such as “Flying The Ark”, “Buccaneer – The Last British Bomber” and “The Story Of The Buccaneer”.
Great complilations all the same and fabulous viewing for us Bucc Freaks.
