Friday last week, work began on removing Buccaneer XV359 from her resting place at RNAS Culdrose, that Friday also seemed to coincide with the wettest day of the year so far.
Saturday was a better day for the weather and we managed to get 359 lashed down in readiness for the 7am start time for the journey to her new home just outside Exeter.
Sunday morning and it seemed to be barely light as we headed for the exit from Culdrose.
The Journey up from Cornwall is not great at the best of times but when you have a load of over 50ft long and 14ft wide, its even more of a challenge, but the truck driver is an old hand at this sort of game and before we really knew it we had arrived at our destination.
The aircraft is now in storage awaiting some cosmetic treatment before going on display.
Enjoy the pictures.

Indeed, it is a Sea Harrier FA.2 but for the life of me I cannot remember the serial code
Thanks for the confirmation, nice to know the aircraft recognition skills are still there after years away from the ATC ! I believe it should be ZD612 the ex ETS airframe.
Nice to be able to confirm its continued existence and put a better location than just ‘Devon’ to it.
Hopefully when the owner(s?) get organised and both aircraft are back together it maybe possible to visit, but I fully understand their desire to remain anonymous at present.

One question – are my eyes playing tricks or is that the nose of a Sea Harrier poking out from behind the crane
Indeed Jagx204, it is a Sea Harrier FA.2 but for the life of me I cannot remember the serial code, and me being me, did not take one single photo of it either.
As for what maybe put in the Bucc’s place at Culdrose, it’s a toss up between Nothing or the Sea Hawk gate guard, the W/O was not sure which way the decision was likely to go.

Afternoon all,
The weather is currently just as bad in London right now….
The SHAR could be the ex ETS airframe from Yeovilton, that was indeed last seen heading in the direction of Devon.
But thats only my guess

Is there anything to replace it in its position by the cafe at Culdrose?

Do you want a Harrier then
Would love one but won’t fit in the garden….Will have to do with fixing up the JP5 cockpit I working on at present.
As for the original observation – My interest is in ‘Wrecks & Relics’ and trying to keep up to date with all the movements etc of these airframes after they have finished their days flying. I have homes for all the departed Sea Harriers (and photos in their new locations), but one is unknown to me – last reported ‘leaving to a fire training school in Devon’ I think the quote was. Just trying to put 2 & 2 together. So do we think its a Sea Harrier in the photo or not ?

Nice to see that the Buccaneer avoided the scrapmans axe and is going to a good home. One question – are my eyes playing tricks or is that the nose of a Sea Harrier poking out from behind the crane ? I know one went ‘Devon way’ some time back but without a final destination.

If so looks like someones putting together a nice collection of nautical types !

Which was?
RobAnt, read the first post again and you will see on the second paragraph I mention ‘Her new home just outside Exeter’, I am unable to give you an exact location due to the new owners wishes.
