Buccaneer XW986 to fly on Saturday

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 13-03-02 AT 10:46 PM (GMT)]News has just been released on the above Buccaneer, courtesy of Kemble Delta Jets: –

“The Buccaneer is due, weather and serviceability permitting, to fly from Kemble on an airtest in the hands of Keith Hartley, on Saturday 16 March 2002. Keith will then land back here and, if the aircraft is serviceable, it will be flown to Warton for further airtests before finally departing these shores for South Africa and Thunder City.”

Now all I need is transport 😉

RE: Buccaneer XW986 to fly tomorrow

The Buccaneer will perform her air test on Good Friday, all going well and with no grumbles she will depart for her journey to South Africa that day too. Weather conditions are looking good for that day.

I think that it went tech so it did not fly but did some fast taxying.
So its still four years since a Buccaneer last flew in the UK.

RE: Buccaneer XW986 to fly on Saturday

Interesting info, especially the Warton bit.
Does this mean Ian Pringle/Thunder City/Barry Pover/Delta Jets have negociated a deal with BAe to airtest/ferry the Bucc under COMO to bypass the CAA ruling on Complex catogory aeroplanes???
