Not historically correct either – but I would still like to put DB´s in them all…

Historically correct would be only to have the Buchons painted as they were in Franco´s Spain….To remind us of the Nazi-connected regime that remained in power while hordes of tourists from the rest of Europe massed at the beaches.

But that is not a very interesting piece of newer, European history – is it?

A few months ago, I read on a german forum that 2 aircraft were sold including the two-seater. Nothing was further heard.

Any news, gents?

Ferry Flight to owner

On Sunday 23rd both Hispano 1112 D-FMVS as well as Yak 9 D-FAFA were ferried from Bremgarten (MeierMotors) to Heringsdorf (near the Polish border at the Baltic). D-FMVS was flown by well known Me 109 / Buchon “specialist” Walter Eichhorn, D-FAFA by Achim Meier.
Nice picture of the Buchon in flight, isn´t it?

P.S.: I found several short clips made during tank stop (scroll down to find the Buchon and Yak).

So that makes six ‘109’ / Buchon derivatives that are now/soon to be airworthy. That has to be good news which ever way you look at them. 🙂

True, but by that rationale you could add the other two EADS ‘109s as well, as they’re both (more or less) re-engined Buchons….. 😉

Three. This one, G-BWUE and G-AWHE (although this one hasn’t flown yet, but is getting there….)

Excellent news. I hope there’s a couple of Buchons at Duxford in September…. 🙂

(Stormbird and I have differing opinions on the nicer front end of a “Bf109” :p)

Actually four if you include EADS ‘Bf 109G-4’ / D-FWME (it was and it’s still a Buchón by definition but powered by a Daimler-Benz engine, no?).

I think it makes it look like a doozie!
The 109 is an awkward looking thing in its purest form, the Buchon, well…

I always thought the air intake made it look sinister, menacing, shark-like….

Nice Aircraft if not for that butt ugly nose end!

With you on that one. Reminds me of a grinning loon. But anyway, great to see another one in the air.

So how many is that now airworthy in Europe?

OOPs!!!! 😮 Good point Pagen, but i’m sure you know what i mean….

I did, but you can’t really use historical accuracy as an argument in this case;)

Maybe getting over the ‘Swastika’ issue would be easier if Hitler had more Liberal and tolerant in his views and not engaged in genocide !!!
I guess in Germany the symbolism of it is something that most Germans wish to forget!
