Hispano Aviación HA-1112-M1L Bouchon G-BWUE was billed as the star-of-the-show at this Easter’s Warbirds Over Wanaka airshow.
Currently owned by Historic Flying Ltd., G-BWUE has been assembled and painted as Messerschmitt ‘Yellow 10’ as seen in the Battle of Britain movie.
Filming during a sunny day at Wanaka is always challenging, as with the north-south orientation of the runway and the viewing stand being on the western side, you usually end up shooting directly into the sun.
Anyway, here’s my Bouchon-at-Wanaka photo-essay.

Absolutely gorgeous photos, Peter! The smoke ring in the start-up photo is a nice touch, but the highlight for me is the seventh photo – it looks like a publicity still from the film.

The hill is used for campervans.

The informal viewing area up there is approximately parallel to the display line, and 400 – 500m from the runway.

Good stuff, looks like they have a ‘naughty’ hill there rather than the ‘naughty’ field at Duxford!

That John Romain bloke gets everywhere doesn’t he? Nice shots but Wanaka is a lovely setting so it’s hard to go wrong.
