Build The Lancaster Bomber

Anyone else dumb enough to enter into it besides me??? 😀 😀 😀

Complete in 125 issues. £4.99 per issue (1st issue at 50p):

50p + (124 x £4.99) = £619.26!!!

I must be crazy – but I’ve gone and purchased it anyway 😀 😀 😀

Can’t see a Vulcan, but surprised to see stuff like C-47 and C-54 in a bombers of WWII set.

The Spanish issues you can already pick up from a good toyfair for around £7 and i can highly recommend them. Certainly a good alternative to Corgi stuff.

It would appear that the die cast series comes from Spain, you can see much more of the collection in this link, wonder if it just WWII or if a Vulcan tucked away in the set

http://www.altaya.es/coleccionable/bombarderos-de-la-segunda-guerra-mundial.html

I’m certain looking that these are the Ixos range, the He-177, FW-200, Blohn&Voss flying boat, all in Ixos at 1/144 and it would make sense to use existing casts etc I’m sure?

who cares either way ! – nice to see rare types and not just B-17, Lancasters etc etc

Looking at these, they could well be the “IXO” range (see http://www.flyingmule.com/range/diecast-model/aircraft/ixo-models-junior/144/ for some images)

I’m a keen collector of diecasts and have a few of theirs. The prices are attractive and the range very diverse (see for yourself) the quality not up to Hobbey Master etc, but not that bad.

This may be worth keeping an eye on. They do such aircraft as a Skua, DO-335, HE-162 etc etc. The models at 1/72 tend to be about £15, the others a bit more.

And another Warbird series out there it seems, must be the season for them

http://bombers.deagostini.co.uk/

From what I have seen of the 1/32 series, the latest Tamiya 1/48 Lanc kit has far more detail at a fraction of the price!

Jesus H. Christ. You’re off your bleeding nut, Wonka!

I’ve known people buy horses for less!

Surely you could buy a real plane for that 😉

Quite! Certainly the most expensive one I’ve invested in – I think the Spitfire only came to around £500ish – including the radio kit and the engine etc – the lancaster is smaller, non-RC and I expect that the aluminium skin will give me quite a bit of bother 😀 😀 😀

I must be mad!!! 😮 😮 😮

Yeah i’ve done it, haven’t finished the Titanic yet & have the Red Baron Triplane waiting 😀

I didn’t get the Titanic – biggest regret of my life – how sad am I? 😀 😀 😀

I too still have the Red Baron waiting for his plane – and still haven’t finnished my Spitfire either 😀 😀 😀 Damn, I have some catching up to do 😀 😀 😀

I just started to build my own Titanic though – I estimate it to end up about 16ft long – Radio Controlled of course 😉 😉 😉

Dunno, I just remember the commentary…maybe he got it wrong.

It looks more like a Harrow than a Stirling to me, too.

The number of engines, for one thing! 🙂

I’ve also order the Lancaster.

I pereviously bought the Titanic (now in the roofspace not complete and not all parts bought). I also bought the ‘Airplane’ series many years ago (no model with it) It was a weekly magazine – (about 9 volumes) – I stopped buying it in the end.

My intention with the Lancaster is collect it all first before assembling it. I will collect tips from forums as the model progesses then in just over 2 years when I have all the parts use the tips and advice from forums to built the model.

I’m sure the 22 foot wingspan ones didn’t cost that much. And, it wouldn’t take 125 weeks to make. And it flies.

…oh, and tuther one is a Stirling. Same Scale.

Maybe it is due to a sense of scale? Geddit? This is 1/32 scale and personally, having seen the first issue, I wouldn’t give one house room, even if I were to have a room big enough in which to display it.

Having said that, I probably will buy two or three copies of the first issue because I can see those propellers being used for a different kind of display.

And Daz, I was only joking about the horse. But your reply has answered the question as to why horse stealing is so popular if you can swap a horse for a Mars bar. Perhaps that’s what happened with Shergar?

Why not buy the excellent Tamiya 1:48 scale Lancaster instead, and save yourself over £500?

It was re-released last December and is certainly available via the Interwebs.

No, I have it on impeccable authority that someone acquired a horse for the price of a Mars Bar – and he’s still alive and kicking, and not found his way into a can of Pedigree Chum!
