Suppose a foreign power asks you to “lend a helping hand” and design an air force for Syrian rebels. What would you come up with?
Scenario:
1. The enemy has a degraded air defence capability. Their most effective weapon is barrel bombs terrorizing civilian targets.
2. Rebels have very. Little infrastructure other than a few captured air bases but no planes
3. They have a few pilots so new pilots would need to be trained.
4. They can maintain only the most rudimentary maintenance schedules as they lack technical sophistication.
What would your expert advice be?
