NO!
What’s next…a Casablanca remake with Jude Law & Gweneth Paltrow and directed by Guy Ritche? 😀
Shhhhh! Don’t say things like that! You never know who’s watching…

More to the point, is there a NEED to remake Bullitt? Surely not, apart from the obvious?

Why dead actors? The future is fully synthetic actors and choose-your-actor menus.
Just like they’ve had on ‘Neighbours’ for twenty odd years !

Do we want a remake of Bullitt?

Peter Sellers would have made a good SGT Bilko instead of that clown Martin.

Ide like to think that one day big screen actors would one day work for profit share in a low cost movie,if not just to show us thier talent.
Kevin Spacey has been doing just that for the past few years since he moved to London whilst working for his favorite theatre and Pacino has also done his bit over the years working for “cost”.
Back to topic…..Do we want a remake of Bullitt?

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow – Laurence Olivier
Gladiator – Oliver Reed
wasnt the crow among those too.
With hollywood virtually crippled by the writers strike how come they need to remake classics if that much talent is missed.
Slightly biased here though ,as i hope the dambusters is remade in one form or another.

Example sly Stallone fantastic performance in copland. So putting a big name to a budget release or art house film could resurrect a ailing career.

I think your spot on with the dead actor’s comment, give it a few years and
the way thing are going it will be possible recreate anybody you want, dead or alive.

Remakes
I dont like them at all,or any movie that has “2” after its name.George Clooney said in a newspaper article today that they dont make good movies any more,he reckoned the 60s where best and I wouldnt argue with that we had a different breed of actors then .But thats just my opinion !

great comments and all of them valid ,without doubt Maqueens shoes will be extremely hard to fill, also would it be the same time period (The Sixties) or will they opt for an “Italian Job” modern day setting? that remake fell well short of Michael Caines classicin my opinion, unfortunately Hollywood doesnt seem to take these facts on board, i guess in twenty years or less they will be contemplating a “Star Wars” complete saga remake too ,with todays C.G.I. technology surely in theory, it must be possible to recreate dead actors images and construct a film in that way .or would that be going too far?

And not only Bullitt, but another classic from a different genre is getting a 21st Century facelift…
A Nightmare on Elm Street
sigh…

I only hope they do not muck around with the cars as in the Gone in 60 seconds remake [that was no eleanor!!]
As long as they keep the Mustang and the Charger the same and at least try to get a decent actor to reprise Mr Mcqueens role then ok.
What am i thinking IMHO this will be a Hollywoodland moneymaking piece of cr@p

I have often stated on this, and other threads, that Hollywood has run out of original ideas. After this piece of “news” I rest my case.
I have been thinking the same for a long time now, I am not sure if its just a lack of ideas, Or its more a lack of vision. A Re-hashed version of a classic film will bring a lot of people to it, A completely new idea may not, And i think the movie industry is not willing to take the risk anymore.
I have yet to see a new version of a film that i prefer more than the original, But if i was to nominate my worst remake that would go to the Jude Law version of “Alfie”, It totally missed the point of the original.
As to remaking Bullitt i can not see any reason why they would want to, Steve McQueen was and is a icon and a hero, and the film Bullitt is for me and i am sure many others Steve at his most iconic, Putting Brad Pitt in the same role is a insult and thats no disrespect to Brad Pitt.

It’d be far easier to list the ones that weren’t!
Psycho
The Italian Job
King Kong (1976)
The Omen (2006)
The Thomas Crowne Affairto name but a few….
The Dam Busters????
We’ll have to see. 🙂
There is no need to remake Bullit..it was filmed in colour and can be enjoyed as a “period piece”.
The Dam Busters has a better case since it will be in colour and have a greater range of special effects available. If fewer flying aircraft.
