Where’s the burma spitfire thread gone, i was enjoying all the friendly banter. Still i guess with Xmas comming soon perhaps they are wrapping the crates as we speek.
I am taking my shovel to birmingham anyway to dig a few up, atleast that way i can have my own squadron:D

Obviously previous sponsors were very unwise in pulling out of the scheme that is virtually guaranteed to have at least one additional squadron of Spitfires flying in three years.
They must now be spitting feathers at their short sightedness in turning away from this racing certainty of a money-making investment opportunity.

Noticed World of Tanks are getting lots of adverts on TV on the run up to the holidays, I can understand his sponsorship deal now as after appearing on the news on several channels and having the adverts now running it ties them both together. Makes sense now as its “free” advertising on major news channels and newspapers, something you could never buy. And if they find something that will be the icing on the cake and a win win situation.

As the Burma Spitfire project gathers momentum, the people behind the project have launched their own blog which apparently takes ‘the reader on a journey from the Burma Campaign of 1942-1945 through the present day.
The blog follows the team on their quest to secure permission to dig in Myanmar, the archival sleuthing to determine what happened in Mingaladon in 1945, and finally the blow by blow coverage of the geophysical survey and archaeological excavation, set to begin in early January 2013.’ More at http://worldofwarplanes.eu/
So.. World of Tanks is followed by World of Warplanes.
Suddenly we see one possible income stream from the investment in Mr Cundall’s wholly believable and patently non-fantastic expedition that does not depend on recovering the numerous Spitfires that we all acknowledge are buried, exactly as Mr Cundall has said.

All such sheds to be made of Canadian Pine of course, and constructed such that bore holes can be made to check the contents are as expected…?
Aged, well-weathered and preferably waterlogged Canadian pine is preferred, apparently large stocks can be found close to a certain airport runway… bring your own shovel (and/or spade?)…
The new S.H.I.T. enterprise will supply shovels at a very resonable price with the Truss logo on the handle.

So, getting back to buried Spitfires, is there anything to report yet?
Presumably not.
Anon.
I all seriousness Anon, I think were are unlikely to hear anything before the middle of January. All that can be said appears to have been said (and sometimes more than once and possibly in several versions). They are making a documentary so images may take a while to surface as they will want to guard their sources. Other information may filter out. I wouldn’t hold your breath though. It will be several weeks before we hear anything in my opinion.
