Bursting with Enthusiasm – for a flight sim Seafire

I’ve just got to tell you about this. BTW, if you’re not interested in flight sims, ignore this. If you are, and you havn’t got ‘Pacific Fighters’, read on. This post may migrate onto Flight Sim forum but I thought I’d tell some mates on the historic board.

I’ve just flown my first carrier take-off and landing in a Seafire III and I’m grinning all over. I bought the game for a fiver from ‘Game’ in the High Street – could not beleive my luck as I usually bide my time ’till the price comes down and my purcahsed v.3 only came out last year (in another shop it was still £30).

Even with my wheezy Athlon 1.4 processor the experience was fantastic, a moving flight deck on three axis, the Seafire firstly sailing across the deck missing the wire, then catching the first wire on the second. The aircraft detail is amazing, the cokpit looks excellent and the canopy slides open. All I need now is to download the authentic Merlin sound to accompany and then to do a strike on a Jap airfield.

Recommended! Can anyone import a screenshot or two to give a ‘visual flavour’?

Landing on the carrier is quite a challenge. I had four ‘bolters’ before I finally caught a wire. It was a pretty wild landing too.
