The Islander is also used for parachute drops, although the Caravan seems to be used more often.
Yes the pictures were taken air side.

I think you will find the pilot of the T6 is Gavin Ashdown not Tony Richards.

I saw this yellow Harvard on the sunday on 31st september im sure it was Mike Victor as it did the same routine as Mike Victor does when over are way unless HK steps in when MV is busy ? :confused:Nice pictures there its one of the best airfields I think Headcorn is.

. I was indoors at the time and hearing that familiar prop rasp I couldn’t help myself, I just had to go outside an have a look. What a sad life I lead eh?

Dont worry I am like that all the time when a plane flys over 😀

I think it highly likely that’s the one I saw as we don’t get many T-6’s around here.

I was thinking of G-BBHK. I don’t know if it is based there, or if it was there at the time, but it is owned by the same people as the Dakota that was there.

I know, my youngest is getting as bad (at 25) so there’s hope for him yet.

I’ve no idea which one it was as my hoouse is just too far outside the circuit for me to be able to see the markings clearly. Something to do with the failing eyesight of growing old. I was indoors at the time and hearing that familiar prop rasp I couldn’t help myself, I just had to go outside an have a look. What a sad life I lead eh?

:p:D

Actually you have four ‘yellow Harvard’ options

All are CCF Harvard IVs – namely G-BSBG, -RAIX, -TVIJ (Rob Davies’ which I believe is still undergoing repairs following a ground loop so probably wasnt that one) and of course QINETQs KF183 –

It wasnt G-DDMV cos it was flying at Sywell last weekend cos I briefed some punters who flew in it! It was in the hangar weds night too cos I was showing it to some beavers (or was showing them to the Six.. 🙂 )

Not sure which one runs out of Kidlington though which Chris refers to

TT

(oh and the pilot in the picture is Tony ‘Racing Snake’ Richards…)

P.P.S.

Nice to see a pic of Gadget, last time I saw her, she was pretending to be a BE2 when we filmed Heroes of the Victoria Cross for C5 – historic Sywell airframe too – ex Brooklands, bless her..

Hey’ I’m British so it’s a Harvard OK? All complaints to the management. No, really, joking aside thanks for the info guys. It was probably the locally based one I saw then.

Mike – it belongs to Warbird Experiences and is based alternately at Sywell and Rochester – its G-DDMV

(oh and its a T-6G Texan 🙂 )

The people who own and operate the DC3 out of Oxford have a yellow Harvard.

Is that the only yellow Harvard airworthy in the UK? If so it was circuit bashing at Kidlington the other afternoon. Nice pics by the way, thanks for sharing.
