Busy Scrapman at Southend today

The scrapman was very busy today with all the following being chopped !

F-27 3Q-QSC (i think, as not much left)
BAC1-11 G-OBHF/G-OBWD – British Heart Foundation
SD360 – CS-TMY
And one of the Air China 146`s

Busy Day!

…………………………………………………………………………………………

BAC1-11 – 5N-HHH (G-FIRE) used by the fire school looks quite close to the action, but more of a worry is the Belfast, as dispite the rumours of a one man restoration to get her airworthy, she does not look in the best of health. 🙁

I would appreciate seeing any pictures of G-OBWD/G-OBHF being scrapped. If you trace back the history of that one it is ex Court Line G-AXMI.

How nice it would to have seen that restored and painted in Court Line colours.

There were two 146’s scrapped by ASI B-1775 and A6-SHK. Both were in the yard at Alton a few years ago but on another visit in May 2006 both had gone.

There were two uncompleted nose sections in primer a few years ago but they moved on. Destination ??

A few pictures for you.

Damn, I was going to investigate the 146 – I want a Hatfield built nose/forward fuselage for the museum.

Bruce

Bruce,

I pm’d you a while back about a Hatfield structural test nose at Woodford. It’s still there along with portion of test shell centre fuse!!

I’ve still got the contact details if you want them again.

ASI have also scrapped Hatfield examples. I think there’s a couple of noses there including the Amiri flight.

Pics of the above mentioned taken earlier this year – sorry, picture quality not the best, I blame the camera!!

Can’t believe the Belfast will be returned to the air, looks too far gone? Hope I’m proved wrong.

They can’t be scrapping 146’s already! I remember when the prototype first flew, and it was only a few years ago.

Sorry Bruce,

The 146 was the worst looking airframe with just the centre section left that i could see, to be fair i was some distance away though. Look`s like they started on the 146 1st.

I do have a couple of pic`s but they are the worst i have ever taken + i had a naff camera with me, they are too bad to post on here!

I would imagine that Hanningfield Metals are doing the scrapping, often they hang onto the cockpits and sell them, which they have done in the past with Viscounts etc, maybe worth a call –

Good luck.
