OK, it doesn’t really belong in “Historic Aviation” as it’s a new build :p but the rumour mill has a Flug Werk 190 arriving at Duxford this week….watch this space!!!

Donuts anyone??
MM
Only if it’s in conjunction with “Wild Bob’s Fuelling Circus” Bowser Display Team; – the preferred choice of Airshow event organisers when it’s “Harry Clampers” and the crowds are restless for airshow action. 😀

Hopefully it will be placed on static display and maybe even taxied around at one of the forthcoming shows.
Donuts anyone??
Glad to see you up and about Roobarb!!!

Does anyone know how long the FW is scheduled to stay at Duxford? I’m hoping to make a visit in the next month or so.
Thanks
There are no plans for the FW to leave DX in the near future, and there should be plenty of opportunity for visitors to see the aircraft and decide for themselves what they think of it. It will be on public display for now but at some point will be moving up to ARC for some engineering work to be carried out for the owner, and at that point will not be on public display. Hopefully it will be placed on static display and maybe even taxied around at one of the forthcoming shows. Either way there should be lots of pictures being taken by people and it might even be sunny! 🙂

Does anybody here knew the engine of FlugWerk 190? A RussianBuilt Ash-82T or a ChineseBuilt HS-8?

That’s not St Athan, Consul! You can see a shadow, implying sunlight. The only normal shadows at the real St Athan are rain shadows under wings that you shelter in… 😀
Thinks – should I seek an entry in the GBOR as I once (AND ONLY ONCE) observed a great fiery ball in the sky over Wales:p

Hi.
This is a another one the Fw 190 at St Athan just before Hurricane Annie
went through the place.:D
Regards Phil.
Just to add some variety – here’s another shot this time from my collection of the St Athan Fw190 running up, taken from the other side:)

I’m certainly looking forward to seeing the 190 at Duxford but to me it will never be as interesting as a real example, rather like the new build Yak 9’s.
Having seen and heard the RAF museums FW190 run many years ago a St Athan, I doubt very much the new build will offer the same levels of anticipation.
Here is a link to an original 190 project that is often overlooked, hopefully this should be in the air before too long. There is also a unique opportunity on offer.

it’s good to see some updates on the Flugwerke site i realy liked the pic of thr new arrival the baby FW190:eek: .
1 question how many of the kits have now taken up orignal identities:confused:, whilst i’m peased as punch to see butcherbirds in the air and i applaude the efforts of Flugwerke i thought that the idea was for the airframes to be classed as new build, and yet from what i read most seem tobe taking up Fw190 identities.
not trying to make waves just curious:cool:.i wish claus colling and the staff at Flugwerke all success with this and the future project including the Bucker Bu 131B and ap-51

Exactly right Mike, no need to get your panties in a bunch Andy, David asked a question, I answered, nothing to do with seeing the project ‘fail’ as you put it. I am sure my buddy Claus Colling wouldn’t be too happy with me if wished that. In any case, all FW kits have been sold, so how can the enterprise be a ‘failure’?. Bring on the ‘Dora’ I say;)
Dave
And they have deceided to extend the production line to build a few more airframes contrary to what was mentioned before. good show.

It gets even more confusing if you look at their website. The Duxford machine is actually a genuine A-9 rebuilt using one of their kits which makes it either a genuine Luftwaffe machine or a new German machine with a few bits added.
“Further on, a US based client undertook the restoration of the remains of an original Fw 190 A9 (!), by using a Flug Werk supplied FW 190 A8/N kit. The aircraft is currently based in Duxford/UK. The following photos display the aircraft in the markings, selected by the client him self. “
Even if its just a few bits added I’m not going to lose sleep over that at all… are you? Nice period additions I’d have thought?
Why bring data plates into it DaveM2? A new Fw 190 with a Chinese engine and other German(US) legislative required structural changes to prevent armaments fit, is hardly a candidate for a ‘thin but robust’, yet another boring Spitfire data plate restoration?
Anyone not looking forwards to seeing a Fw 190 fly at Duxford? I bloody well am, along with the brand new built tropical filter Spitfire replica.
Perhaps we should organise a Flypast Forum armchair provenance experts group attack team and sneak in under cover of darkness with a JCB and dismember it for not being good enough in your eyes, daring to appear at Duxford without ‘Provenance and Paint Committee’ approval and not having the right paint scheme or engine…?
There is a prevailing under current of noise on this forum that appears desperately keen to see Fw fail in some way. Give them a chance please.:(

New German machine with bits added, the most important being the data plate 🙂

just catching up,wot a page! interesting views expressed by lots of brigades. have a couple of questions, please read carefully before shooting me down!
where was the factory located that produced original spitfires? all the others were, i take it replicas!
i want to put invasion stripes on a spit this season; i am led to believe the originals were emulsion, the night before. should i use dulux, crown or go for the so called original spec with 2000 pots of airfix W1 (white)?
the original Bf 109 flew with a rolls royce lump; were all the daimler examples something else?
as i didn’t see any aircraft in WWII, who do i believe; the ‘expert’ who says somethings wrong or the pilot who flew the plane 60 years ago?
the props only thereto keep the pilot cool i believe; they soon start to sweat when it stops?
you can only tie for the lowest flying pilot; 6 feet under?thank you for any carefully considered answers,
a happy new year to you all!
😀 Now stop typing and get back to work LOL,theres a pair of Big Bristols to hang .
Keep up the good work, she looks nice,we popped in yesterday.:D
