Yep according to Jethros, G-BZZE/F/G/H/I/ and J, will be disposed at the end of 2004. A bit of a shame, a bit different from the normal Ryanair a/cs, with half Buzz colours and the ones with half Continental colours. They are getting that many -800s they obviously don’t need them.
Also Excel have leased a Boeing 737-800 from Miami Air, G-OXLA, to go with ZS-SJG as their leased 738s for the summer.

G-XLAC c/n 29051
G-OXLA c/n 30619
N733MA c/n 30619
So G-OXLA and N733MA are the same. N735MA as on Jethros is incorrect.
The customer code for this aircraft is 1Q, which belongs to Tombo Aviation.
On further investigation Tombo Aviation is a small leasing company of about 33 aircraft, so 30619 belongs to it.
30619 was initially delivered to Miamia Air on 30/05/01, then went to Excel one day later, then went back to Miami Air on 05/11/01 then back to Excel on 31/05/02 then back to Miami Air on 01/11/02, and now back to Excel this month!
For an aircraft so young its been through the 2 airlines a hell of a lot of times!!!!

I saw G-XLAC at Newcastle two weeks ago, I don’t think it is no. Unless you are talking about G-OXLA first being XLAC and then being leased to Miami Air. Then another aircraft taking the reg XLAC?

Didn’t it used to be G-XLAC? Because I saw this from inside the FLS hangar at STN, half way through painting before it’s lease to Miami Air.

I knew it, thanks LBARULES!
By: LBARULES - 3rd June 2004 at 20:20
Actually im not sure, on the pics from 2001/2 it says it was leased from Miami. I dont know!
By: LBARULES - 3rd June 2004 at 20:19
I think your spot on there Ben, Jethro must have made a mistake.
On a.net theres a pic of it in full colours 31/05/2004 but the photo of it before is in 2002, in an XLA/Miami c/s.

LBARULES, I’m sure that G-OXLA belongs to Excel Airways, I am positive that they leased it to Miami Air?? Please correct me if I’m wrong!!

Look here for info on the -200 fleet Peter:

LBA-DUB is a dead cert -200 on all flights.
By: Mark L - 3rd June 2004 at 19:41
LTN-DUB is still a very safe bet, I don’t think there is anything at STN that REGULARLY uses the 732 in particular?

It will be sad to see those old buzz 737’s leaving…. it will be interesting to see what FR uses as a repacement for the smaller a/c (200’s and 300’s) it has going at the moment.
tenhije,
The DUB-BRS route is almost def. a 737-200 (about 98% certain) There has only been about 4/5 times in several years when it has been otherwise – (a HH 734, an FR 738, an XLA 738, a UK 733 and BAE 146-300).
I’m not sure that the UK (buzz) a/c were opperating for FR (it may have been for KLM) but they probably were.

i know they fly to MAN with the 732 and BHX
By: tenthije - 3rd June 2004 at 19:24
How many ‘200s are left and on what routes do they fly (in particular between the 25th and 28th of July ;))

I think I read somewhere that MOL reckons they will fill the extra capacity, that will be something seems the difference must be in the region of 70 odd seats.

300 pilots will be retrained on the 800, and yes all the NG 737s have a common type rating.
It would not surprise me to see FR get some flightly smaller planes (700s or 600s) converted from some 800 orders/options as they are going to need something with lesser capacity to replace the 200s and 300s.
By: SHAMROCK321 - 3rd June 2004 at 17:00
They had to stay for a while I suppose but as the 800s are delivered the 300 leave.Where will they go?.Will the 300 pilots be trained to fly the 800?.Can 800 pilots fly the 900,600,700?
By: Mark L - 3rd June 2004 at 16:34
Its a bit of a joke operating a fleet of hundreds of -800s and then having 4 or 5 300s ticking along on the side though, so hardly unexpected

I believe the reason for them getting rid of them is that they couldn’t re-negotiate the lease deals that they took over when they swallowed up Buzz.
