A few shots from PIK on a rather dull day.
The 3rd pic isn’t a very good shot but check the angle of the Polar 747 to the runway just before touchdown.

I know its not going to be of any help to you peeps up north but the fully painted one usually floats(well flies) around Heathrow.
You’d have to expect it at PIK sometime though I suppose and vice versa at LHR?

Looking at the 350D and the 20D, and I just can’t make my mind up?
I think I’ll keep my 10D for now and get a 350D to complement it until the 20D is replaced again by something else.

I was going to pop down to PIK today as well but didn’t bother when I found out it was 9Y-JIL again.
I’m still looking for a shot of the fully painted version too.

Hello Kaplan,
Didn’t bump into you today since I was on the other side when you shot the photos above.I didn’t use the D60 today at all and used my Camcorder instead to shoot all the Freighters, my WIN TV gadet is away on tour at the moment (a friend has it) so I’ll try to upload some movie clips of them next weekend.
Thanks to REN’s advice I have a “Gust Buster” for it now which cuts down on wind noise quite a bit so they won’t suffer so much from wind noise.
We had a good one last weekend at PIK when an Evergreen 747 dropped in on a fuel stop and when he taxied out I was using the Camcorder on him and he slowed right down when passing the photographers well down from me.
He speeded up again and saw me on my steps with the Camcorder and opened the throttle up when passing me which was really good of him, the guys next to me said “Did you get that, did you get that”.
A lot of Pilot that taxi past the “mound” are really obliging and that was a good one.
Fred.
Hi there Fred, yes, quite a lot of the pilots at PIK seem to like putting on a show for the guys on the mound, talking of, here’s a pic of the BWIA A340 passing the mound with a couple of ‘Moundsters’ on it.
Also, last week I went to the ‘other end’ but it was very hazy and the pics aren’t really worth uploading 🙁
