Three of the four US Army National Guard Short C-23B Sherpas passed through Prestwick on their long journey back home, I remember photographing them on their way to Iraq back in 2006 (I think). This may be the last time we see them in the UK as they are about to be replaced by the C-27J Spartan and the fourth aircraft is long term U/S in the desert and may be left there.
Hope its ok to post these, a bit of a rarity now days
Arrival – 22nd May
Unfortunately I only managed to catch two of the three arriving as I had to get to work.

Departure – 24th May
With one due to head for Keflavik at 0915 and then the other two set to follow 15 minutes later, I made my way along to the airport. PAT322 took off at 0928 and immediately informed ATC that he had a problem with his gear, it wouldn’t retract. One short circuit later and at 0934 322 was back on the ground and the remaining two aircraft shut down along with it. Still on the ground at the moment!
