Took this photo back in March of this year at the Space Coast Regional Airport, Titusville, FL.
Tucked away in a corner I spotted this rather forlorn looking Douglas aircraft, DC-3/C-47/R4D-5, N293WM “Carried Away”
I believe it was airworthy not so long ago but does anybody know any history connected with this airframe? Don’t think it’s anything to do with the VAC Warbird Museum based at the same location.

Among the companies to have operated it in the USA in the 1946-1960 period are Hughes Tool Co. (I assume TWA), All American Aviation, Allegheny and Seaboard & Western.

It does not bear “Carried Away” on its starboard side but it does have this below the tail:
