C-47 The Coral Princess

I have been painting a piece of wartime C-47 with the artwork shown in this link.

The aircraft is stated as unknown.

The code showing in the top RHC starts with 187.

Does anyone have any more data on this aircraft?

A couple of photographs have appeared on ebay over the years of the same image.

“Fat Cat” written on the picture seems to indicate she was in the New Guinea theatre and used as the squadron hack to fly in fresh food/supplies [grog] from Oz…

Roger – I tried to get a serial number from that area but even after photoshopping it is too indistinct.

There is another photograph here from a different angle – but apart from confirming 187 – no further detail.

Can anyone make out the stencilling just below the windscreen – does it give any clues??
